Now that the next leg of The Amazing Race season 35 has begun, the challengers are in for a chaotic ride in Jaipur, India. What began with 13 teams now has a total of 9 teams remaining as we look forward to the next exciting leg of season 35.
Phil Keoghan returns as the host for season 35, with the winning prize being $1,000,000. Traveling to India and other places was going to be seen in the older season of The Amazing Race but had to be postponed for a future season due to the pandemic.
Elements of The Amazing Race that will be making a comeback this season are the U-turn, the Express Pass, and the ability to use commercial flights for traveling, which was not seen in any of the recent seasons of this CBS reality competition.
The Amazing Race Season 35 Episode 5: Recap
After completing the Vietnam leg, the challengers arrive at the Pink City in India, Jaipur. All of them started at the same time, giving them the chance to come first even if they were last in the previous leg.
The first task involves transporting sugarcane up to an elephant herder, who waits for the teams at the top of the palace. While this was a relatively easy task considering the previous ones in The Amazing Race season 35 so far, what made it hard was the inclined path that drained most of their energy.
Greg and John were the ones in the last place, where after delivering the sugarcanes, they’d have to dress up and balance several bowls while performing a traditional dance along with other teams.
Only if they manage to practice the dance properly and perform it well, the pairs would be allowed to pass into the next part of the challenge. Anna has to perform many times before she can do the steps correctly.
The dance routine was not the hardest part, it was the task of balancing the bowls on the head while dancing which was the most time-consuming of Pink City’s challenges.
Once this was done, the next challenge was a detour “All Dolled Up”, where they’d have to perform a puppet act using wooden dolls. Another detour was “The Big Picture” where they’ll have to bring a masterpiece to life.
It was a very close call, but at the end of the challenge, the team that managed to show up at the last position was Joe and Ian, the engaged duo from NYC.

A fresh episode featuring the contestants completing the next part of the challenge will be coming out on November 1st, 2023. All-new episodes of CBS’s The Amazing Race are released on Wednesdays each week, with a single episode having a run time of 47-50 minutes.

As the India leg continues, we’ll be seeing something new in The Amazing Race’s history, as the votes are now going to be taken for the unescapable U-turn.
This would mean that the team with the most votes will have to complete all of the detours, which consist of bundling up flowers along with transporting a huge set of materials to the destination using only a rickshaw.
