The Acolyte seems to have finally found its footing after a bumpy first half. Episode 7 delivers long-awaited answers about the Brendok tragedy 16 years ago, revealing a more nuanced story where good and evil aren’t so clear-cut.
While the delayed payoff might have frustrated some viewers, those who persevered are rewarded. “Choice” not only clarifies the events surrounding the separation of Mae and Osha but also goes into the complexities of the Jedi stationed on Brendok.
We learn that neither side, the Jedi nor the witches, was entirely innocent. The episode explores the reasons behind the Jedi’s presence: the Great Hyperspace Disaster, a lore-heavy event that caused widespread devastation, and the mysterious Force vergence, a concentration of Force energy found on Brendok.
