Netflix’s upcoming comedy series, The Four Seasons, will reunite Date Night stars Tina Fey and Steve Carell. Carell is set to play the male lead in this reimagining of the 1981 comedy film, while details about both actors’ roles remain a secret.
Since leaving The Office in 2011, Carell has appeared in a variety of films, including Crazy Stupid Love, The Big Short, and Foxcatcher, for which he received an Academy Award nomination. He’s also known for voicing Gru in the Despicable Me franchise.
Recently, Carell has returned to TV with roles in Apple’s The Morning Show, Netflix’s Space Force, and Hulu’s The Patient. He’s set to voice characters in IF and Despicable Me 4 and has received acclaim for his performance in Uncle Vanya on Broadway.
What is The Four Seasons?
The Four Seasons, written and directed by Alan Alda, revolves around Jack and Kate Burroughs, played by Alda and Carol Burnett. The story follows three married couples as they vacation together each season, navigating their relationships through banter, fights, breakups, and reconciliations.
The film, which features Antonio Vivaldi’s violin concerti, was a box office success and earned positive reviews from critics. Executive producers for the series include Fey, Lang Fisher (Never Have I Ever), Tracey Wigfield (Great News), David Miner, Eric Gurian, and Jeff Richmond.
Alda and Marissa Bregman will produce, with Fey, Fisher, and Wigfield writing for the series. The Four Seasons is set to begin production later this year, with no release date announced yet.
