Two years after Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launched, Focus Entertainment has revealed how frequently players selected each class in PvE Operations during the past year. Tactical emerged as the clear favorite with 44.4 million selections, according to statistics shared by the publisher.
Bulwark followed with 40.1 million picks, while Assault reached 33.3 million. Heavy recorded 30.4 million selections, followed by Vanguard at 27.4 million and Techmarine at 22.3 million. Sniper rounded out the seven-class lineup with 20 million selections.
The numbers do not necessarily mean Tactical is the game’s strongest class, but its combination of offensive power and team utility helps explain its popularity.
WHY PLAYERS KEEP CHOOSING TACTICAL
Tactical has access to weapons such as melta variants and the Pyreblaster, while its Auspex Scan ability can reveal enemies and heavily debuff targets within an area. That utility can be especially valuable during difficult Operations, where coordinated teams need to eliminate dangerous enemies quickly.

The timing of the statistics is also notable. Space Marine 2 recently received its major Patch 15 update, which significantly expanded Tactical’s build options and melee arsenal. Players can now pursue more varied setups, including melee-focused builds using weapons such as the Power Sword, Power Axe, and One-Handed Thunder Hammer.
The class hierarchy may look different when Focus releases next year’s statistics. The game’s Year 3 roadmap includes the Apothecary class in early 2027, giving players another option for cooperative PvE.
For now, however, Tactical remains the most popular class in Space Marine 2, with more than 24 million additional selections than Sniper during the reported period.
