Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is facing a wave of negative Steam reviews after a controversy surrounding Saber Interactive and the use of artificial intelligence in its upcoming taxi simulator Rideshare “Stimulator.”

The dispute began after writer Stella Sacco alleged that Saber managers had replaced her with AI. Saber CEO Matt Karch denied that characterization, saying Sacco was dismissed for another reason, while acknowledging that AI was being used on Rideshare “Stimulator.” Karch also made a pointed comment about preferring AI over Sacco, further intensifying the backlash.

Following the controversy, the Steam page for Rideshare “Stimulator” was updated to disclose its AI usage. Some players subsequently began describing the project as “AI slop” and directing their frustration toward other Saber-published games.

That backlash has now reached Space Marine 2, with some players leaving negative reviews despite the controversy being unrelated to the game’s development itself. Players have also questioned whether AI could be used in the game’s future free updates or paid content.

Saber has not indicated that Space Marine 2’s development relies on AI-generated content. The review activity instead appears to reflect broader dissatisfaction with the company’s handling of the Rideshare “Stimulator” controversy and Karch’s comments.
