Fox is releasing this week a new show called Snake Oil, hosted by David Spade. Have you heard the expression “Snake Oil”? If you haven’t, it is synonymous with a scam or a fraud. In this show, you’ll see how people present to celebrities and investors a series of products, and they must spot if the service or product is a scam or if it’s real.
Ahead of its premiere, here’s everything you need to know about this show developed by Fox that aims to compete for the attention of the audience in the 2023 fall season for prime time slots on Wednesdays. If you like shows like Shark Tank with a spin on comedy and enjoy celebrity guests as well, then try giving this show a run for your time.
Snake Oil Preview
Have you seen those shady salespersons all over the place offering you a product or a service that seems too good to be true, but it ends up being a fraud? Well, this show is about that.
On each episode, former SNL cast member, actor, and comedian David Spade takes a group of guests and celebrities on the stage to showcase a series of business proposals, closely mimicking Shark Tank. A commercial and a pitch will be shown, and they must detect whether or not that service or product is a scam.
There’s also an incentive because the winners get fifty grand in prizes, but considering most products and services are all b*llsh*t, we can’t expect that actual money to be given out, but everything is up for grabs, that’s for sure.
If you ever saw Saturday Night Live, you’ll see how those satirical fake commercials closely mimic also what we’ll see on Shark Tank, showcasing the imprint that SNL had on legacy cast member and host David Spade, who’s also a producer. With weekly rotating guest celebrities, like Courteney Cox, Adam Sandler, and Dana Carvey, we’ll sure have a laugh, shock, and learn a thing or two about Snake Oil sellers.
