CBC’s Skymed is a medical series that has been airing since 2022. Most medical shows center on doctors or nurses, but this medical drama by Julie Puckrin exclusively shows the lives of medical professionals rescuing people thousands of feet above the ground.
Skymed revolves around various nurses and pilots involved in an air ambulance service operating in Manitoba. Each episode documents these medical personnel as they try and rescue people in desperate situations through helicopters and airplanes.
Not only does this medical field involve intense missions, but it also requires extreme selflessness and quick thinking to ensure the safety of both the crew and the patient.
Besides their extraordinary work, we also get to see the personal lives of the Skymed crew, with each having their own complex issues to deal with.
For season 2 of Skymed, the crew features Natasha Calis in the role of Hayley Roberts, Morgan Holmstrom playing Crystal, Praneet Akilla plays Jay Chopper, Aason Nadjiwan plays Captain Austen, Mercedes Morris plays Lexi, and Thomas Elms portrays Captain Milosz. Crystal’s ex, Jeremy Wood, is played by Braeden Clarke.
Skymed Season 2 Episode 2: Recap
Episode 2 of Skymed’s season 2 featured Crystal finding out that Jeremy was now preparing to join as a paramedic officer.
Since he was originally a smuggler, Crystal doubts Jeremy’s abilities. Just as they’re talking, a man starts complaining of a painful knee.
Jeremey gets up to give first aid, and Crystal uses this chance to put him down and show that he’s not ready to save lives just yet. The man collapses after a sudden heart attack, and Jeremy gives CPR for the first time.
The crew is still a bit sensitive towards the fact that Jay’s wife, Sunita, came out of nowhere and was making all the decisions for him. Sunita and Jay divorced a few years ago after Sunita wouldn’t support Jay’s decision to work in the aviation department as an engineer.
Jay’s health was improving at a very slow pace, and Sunita stayed beside him until he woke up. Seeing Jay’s crew worry about him, she decides to leave Chopper so that they can take care of him. Jay stops Sunita, and they share an emotional moment.
Likely, Jay and Sunita will now go back to being partners since they were still so deeply in love with each other. After being told that making mistakes is a part of learning, Crystal feels bad for the way she treats Jeremy.
Captain Willian seems to be spending more of his time at work after he and his wife go through a rough time in their relationship. When Jeremy arrives at the hospital to get an update on the man he had given CPR to, Crystal informs him that he has been transferred to another place.
She uses this chance to apologize to Jeremey, to which he reveals that she has always been this way and failed to see his efforts from the beginning.
The episode ends with Crystal finally realizing that she was the reason their relationship didn’t last. We’ll see more of Crystal and Jeremy’s interactions in the upcoming episodes, since now he’s a part of the air ambulance too.
