Although, in the recent episodes, we see how their bonds are kind of breaking apart and not standing up as a polygamist family should. Christine has already left the family with her kids. She and Kody, the patriarch of the family, had been having issues for a long time, and this was when her heart broke, and she decided to take the strings and break them. I mean, it was such a polygamy relationship after a while.
We saw that Kody started living with his legal wife, Robyn, while all the other three women had to live alone with the kids. He has a total of 18 kids of his own. Kody feels like she is also heading in the path where Christine dies at one point. He claimed that she was making single-woman decisions while being married to Kody and having kids together. Kody literally snapped in that episode, saying to Janelle that he let it slide for so many years given the fact that she has been living like a single woman for so long but now it is not working out for him. But well, Janelle was not having any more of that, and she too decided to explore her side of the situation.

Janelle explained that this is just one of the factors that come along with a plural relationship. She says she never felt support from Kody and was thus forced to make her own decisions thus. Janelle says she feels like she always had to make her own decisions. She revealed that it was not like she made the whole being an independent thing on her own. She used to go over to him to ask for her needs, but they generally got ignored. Thus, she decided to take up the reins that he let loose and navigate her life on her own terms as an independent woman.
Now, the obvious question of their future came into our minds because they are having a lot of problems right now. Janelle added that things are very different in a long-term relationship with a partner, and each has their own side of the story. Thus, she has to review hers in order to even think about what she wants and what is actually the best for them in the future.
While talking about their relationship, Justin said that the problem does not lie in the fact that Janelle is an independent woman while in a marriage with Kody. The problem comes because she is totally aloof. Now, we see that Kody is very angry. He wanted her to move into the house that Christine left behind and buy it to provide stability. But Janelle is not so sure about that decision. She says she had to get an RV because Kody left her alone at the time she was trying to find a rental.
