Fans of In the Dark might really like Sight Unseen, a show about a former murder detective who is completely blind.
Although The CW’s development has been unsteady in this new period, one thing that the organization is doing well is trying to keep viewers from the old era by attracting us with returning cast members who star in their new shows.
Sullivan’s Crossing is presently running its first season, which stars Scott Patterson and Chad Michael Murray in major roles. It has already received a second-season renewal, with CTV and CW co-producing. Vanessa Morgan is set to lead the humorous procedural series Wild Cards. Sight Unseen, starring Daniel Gillies, will be joining these shows.
Sight Unseen is a procedural, just like Wild Cards. But it’s not so much a comedy as a drama. Before Nexstar acquired a majority stake in The CW, the procedural genre was confined to the Arrowverse’s villain-of-the-week styles for the first few seasons of the network’s renowned shows. This is a strategic move to appeal to a wider range of viewers and better align with the content offered by the other Big 5 networks.
About The Show
Before diving into Sight Unseen Episode 1, let’s quickly talk about the show. In the first episode of the season, top homicide investigator Tess Avery (Lewis) leaves her beloved work after being confirmed as clinically blind as a result of a field mishap that nearly killed her colleague, Jake Campbell.
Tess, troubled by the investigation she left behind and not prepared to accept her diagnosis, teams up with Sunny Patel, a remote-seeing eye guide, in an unconventional way to investigate the violent kidnapping of a young mother Tess thinks is still alive.
Sight Unseen follows Tess as she navigates her investigations and deals with her latest diagnosis while seeing the world through the eyes of Sunny, a stranger who lives 3,000 miles away. Sunny, a true crime enthusiast and agoraphobic who is able to leave her residence through the eyes of her patients, uses an earpiece and micro camera to guide Tess.
Sunny is quickly engrossed in her new partner’s life. She does, however, also have a violent past of her own that she intends to uncover in the future. The two shatter ideas about skills, trust, and boundaries throughout the course of the show.
With the help of experts and sight-divergent lead Dolly Lewis, the developing team for Sight Unseen vowed to prioritize diversity, inclusion, and equity ideals both in front and in the back of the camera to provide a true portrayal of the sight-impaired community.
This commitment extended to the film’s post-production phase. The show offers a novel perspective on crime dramas and is further motivated by co-creator Karen Troubetzkoy’s personal experiences with chronic vision loss. There is a lot to talk about the show, but now let’s discuss when Episode 1 of Sight Unseen will be released and what will happen in it.
