Shark Tank is a reality show that is coming back for its tenth season, where aspiring business owners present their ideas to a group of hungry investors.
This Friday, January 12th, marks the sharks’ return. They have their walls open and their teeth bared, ready to eat the most promising company ideas they can find. Think of it like a cooking competition where the reward isn’t Michelin stars but rather a million-dollar investment and the chance to watch your invention swim with the big fish.
The ABC business show, like most shows, has recently been taking a break and was not broadcast throughout the holidays. Ten episodes of the fifteenth season of “Shark Tank” have been aired since the show’s September 29, 2023 premiere. ABC has occasionally skipped airing an episode on Fridays in the past.
Recap
After making an appearance on Season 15 of Shark Tank, Caroline Matthes and Rose Fierman exited with a deal from Kevin O’Leary for $150,000 for 8% ownership and a $2 royalty per unit until $500,000 is paid back, after which it reduces to $1 per unit in perpetuity. A Poplight update is that preorders can be put on their website, and the firm is getting ready to ship orders in May 2024. After appearing on the show, we assume they will have a pleasant surge in orders.
Poplight’s founders, Caroline Matthes and Rose Fierman, devised a clever solution because they know how challenging it can be to install lights. Poplight, essentially a wall sconce that adheres directly to the wall, is something they invented.
The lights mount quickly and easily without the need for any tools. To ensure that the light is level, the base contains built-in leveling and stick strips that adhere to the wall. It’s simple to remove and doesn’t harm the wall to reposition the stick strips if you become bored of the light or wish to change it.
All you have to do is position the base where you want it and twist on the light. It is powered by a USB rechargeable battery, and you can simply tap it to turn the light on or off.
If that’s not simple enough for you, the girls also made an app that can be used to regulate the light. In addition, the light can be dimmed manually or via an app. The women admit that they are still in the prototype stages during filming. Similarly, the items they show the sharks are from their initial tooling cycle.
When Kevin O’Leary has had enough, he offers $150,000 in exchange for 8% equity and a royalty of $2 per unit until he recovers $500,000. After then, the royalty will always be $1. Barbara is willing to pay $150,000 with no equity in exchange for a $20 royalty per unit. The royalty would last for all time.
Robert Herjavec believes they’ll manage without him even though he loves the product. In addition, he exhorts the women to accept Kevin’s offer, but he declines. Lori Greiner is overly cautious about the market for this kind of product. She is therefore also out.
Because he believes there are still too many unanswered questions regarding the product, Mark Cuban also withdraws. Following that, the women resolve to challenge Barbara’s demand for a $12 royalty each unit. Barbara returns with a total of $100,000 in cash, along with a $50,000 credit line and a $12 royalty.
Subsequently, they choose to oppose Kevin by requesting that he work for $2 a unit until he earns $350,000 rather than $500,000. But he turns it down. They ultimately choose to accept Kevin’s offer.
