This season of “Claim to Fame” has not featured the most strategic players. Whether the clues were too difficult or the cast didn’t know their pop culture, fans identified the celebrity relatives much quicker than the players did.
Shane, however, has remained a mystery. Despite his game not going as planned each week, his biggest strength has been that no one could figure out his identity.
Franklin and Kevin Jonas, known for their famous brothers Joe and Nick Jonas, host “Claim to Fame,” which has returned for another summer.
In this show, a group of celebrity relatives live together in a beautiful mansion, using clues and challenges to discover who the others are related to. Now in its third season, the players’ lack of pop culture knowledge has allowed the audience to solve the clues faster than the participants.
Shane Was Targeted Early in ‘Claim to Fame’ Season 3
From the first episode, Shane was a target. Bianca was certain that Shane resembled a well-known Hollywood actor.
During the first episode, Shane shared his “Two Truths and a Lie,” revealing that his relative was an Oscar-winning actor, but the lie was that this celebrity relative was his cousin. Bianca confidently guessed that Shane’s claim to fame was Forest Whitaker, but she was wrong, giving Shane a fresh start.
Although little information came out during the challenges, Shane did share that he had dined with Elizabeth Taylor and visited Neverland Ranch, hinting at Dedrick’s claim to fame.
During the canoe challenge, the word “valkyrie” stood out as an unusual clue. Initially, it didn’t seem connected, but later, it was clear that it related to the blockbuster movie “Apocalypse Now.”
Shane’s Claim to Fame: Hollywood’s Godfather
When the players participated in the telephone game, Shane’s clues were easily overlooked. However, fans deciphered that one clue, “his toga was in disarray,” likely referenced the film “Julius Caesar.” Though Shane’s identity remained unclear in the following episode, things began to come together as the cast thinned out.
During the five senses challenge, most clues pointed to other individuals. However, when only cannoli and spaghetti were left, viewers started guessing Shane’s identity. If you are a movie buff, the connection became clear.
Shane’s celebrity trivia clue was: “This actor’s character played a crucial role in saving Superman’s life as an infant in the original film.” In the 1978 Superman movie, Jor-El, Superman’s biological father on Krypton, was played by one of the most legendary actors, who also portrayed The Godfather.
In Episode 7, it was revealed that Shane’s celebrity relative was a co-star of Martin Sheen. Mackenzie knew this meant that Shane’s relative was someone older. When Mackenzie won the challenge, she accessed Shane’s clue.
The clue included “berry leaves, a wood stump, eye + c + an on button, the w/ symbol, Italy, a crown, a safety pin, and toilet paper,” which decoded to “Hollywood Icon with Italian kingpin role.”
Shane’s claim to fame is none other than his grandfather, Marlon Brando. How cool is that! All episodes of “Claim to Fame” are available for streaming on Hulu in the U.S.
