RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, the iconic reality competition series, has made a comeback to television with its talent-filled cast of sarcastic queens. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find out everything there is to know about the show, including when it airs, where to watch, and other interesting details.
Around the time the fourth season of the show aired the previous year, the show’s producers announced the auditions for the upcoming season. Supporters were excited when the producers unveiled the contestants’ faces in early September.
We are already familiar with the process and structure. Similar to other seasons and incarnations of the program, this one will have a group of candidates ready to take on the challenges that will be posed to them, along with a panel of judges.
In each show, one participant will be removed until the finale, which will include a competition for the top slot among those who make it to the end. Now that RuPaul has officially announced his return to the competition as the top judge, we can’t wait to see him decked up for the show.
Recap Of RuPaul’s Drag Race (UK) Season 5 Episode 4
The title for the episode was “Disaster Class.” Teams of three are tasked with creating a humorous seminar on a certain topic—love, party, or work—as part of the “DisasterClass” concept. As opposed to something like the DragCon panel challenge or Pink Table Talk, this is more clearly presented as a challenge where one needs to be hilarious, so the queens have a more obvious objective as they get ready.
And when queens in one group succeed, and those in the other groups fail, it becomes much more apparent. Subjectivity will always exist when it comes to challenging winners; having personal tastes is an integral element of being a Drag Race fan. However, I believe that the reason why recent seasons have failed is that viewers have found it difficult to connect with the story since the victories have felt so contentious.
In addition to a lack of chemistry within the cast, inconsistent or insufficient judging, or a lack of variety in the challenges offered, it has recently seemed as though RuPaul’s Drag Race lacks several essential components for success. Tomara Thomas receives the privilege of allocating teams for the DisasterClass seminar panels as a reward for taking first place in the second mini-challenge of the season.
She allies with the northern queens, selecting Ginger Johnson and Michael Marouli for herself. Next, she pairs Cara with Banksie and Vicki Vivacious, and the last group consists of Miss Naomi Carter, DeDeLicious, and Kate Butch. Kate finds herself in an intriguing position as we begin this week: she is the only queen remaining who has not yet received criticism from Ru or the panel.
Although complaints of this nature tend to come out as absurd, I believe Kate makes a valid point in this instance. The other queens recognize Kate as the group’s weak link in the chilly open. However, that is currently unfounded.
Although Kate has had some excellent moments during challenges (her runway banter with Sophie Ellis-Bextor last week was arguably the season’s high point thus far), the judges haven’t given them much attention. Kate can determine whether or not she is on the correct track by receiving some sort of response.
