On episode 11 of season two of NBC’s Quantum Leap, Ben transforms into a journalist in the 1980s. On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 10 PM ET/PT, “The Outsider” will premiere.
Ernie Hudson makes a comeback as Herbert “Magic” Williams, while Raymond Lee plays the primary role of Ben Song. Caitlin Bassett plays the role of Addison Augustine. Ian Wright is portrayed by Mason Alexander Park, Jenn Chou by Nanrisa Lee, Hannah Carson by Eliza Taylor, and Tom Westfall by Peter Gadiot.
Even though we knew that Ian and Jenn’s actions—taking the quantum chip from wealthy tech magnate Gideon (played by James Frain) and waltzing into their offices without warning—would have dire repercussions, the result was nevertheless startling.
In the Quantum Leap episode airing on Tuesday, Ian and Magic were seated across from Gideon, who made it plain that someone would pay a price for robbing him.
Recap
He clarified that the Department of Defense knew exactly what Ian and Jenn had done, and they were going to send a representative in the morning to make sure Magic took care of things to their satisfaction.
Worse yet, Gideon’s chip was valued considerably more by the government overlords than the Quantum Leap crew.
Tom was hired by the DoD, and he told Addison that they planned to destroy the program of the same name. Even when he persuaded his superiors to keep the program going, they still needed a scapegoat.
Tom left it up to Magic to decide who to fire, and Magic felt that would be impossible because Ian and Jenn had supported him through his alcoholism.
Meanwhile, Tom decided to go of his own free will. The former army guy had no ill will toward Addison, even if their engagement ended so suddenly. He urged Addison to look after herself, saying, “I think we were meant to be together, and I think we were meant to break up.”
He urged Addison to look after herself and bring Ben home, saying, “I think we were meant to be together, and I think we were meant to break up.”
In another instance, Magic informed Jenn that, because of Tom, Gideon had consented to drop all charges and allow the Quantum Leap program to temporarily use his chip.
However, since the team needed them to get Ben home, someone had to pay for what had transpired, and Ian wasn’t going to be that someone. Jenn thought she would go first, but Magic stopped her in her tracks.
He remarked, “I know your heart was in the right place.” “I’m sorry, but Gideon Ridge demands to have his head placed on a platter. hence I’m passing mine to him.
In case you were unclear about his meaning, he explicitly stated, “Effective immediately, I’m resigning from Quantum Leap.” The show will tackle a number of important issues in its two-hour season finale, which airs at 9/8c on Tuesday. Among them is the team’s future.
