It seems like streaming service Netflix and studio giant Sony are pulling off a few projects that were initially supposed to star Will Smith in it. Is the slapping incident at the Oscars going to cost Will Smith his career?
Streaming giant Netflix was repeatedly in the process of looking for a new director for Fast and Loose. This happened after David Leitch withdrew from the project ahead of the Academy Awards. Smith was all set to play a crime boss who suffers from a memory problem. Not only that, but yet another popular movie franchise starring the actor has also been put on pause.

Even studio giant Sony is also rumored to be pulling the brakes on the ongoing movie franchise Bad Boys 4. The filming was reportedly gearing up ahead of the awards show. It seems like some of the big brands are pulling some of the upcoming projects after the actor slapped Chris Rock at this year’s Oscars. The slap was condemned by many, while many supported the act. Will Smith has landed into some major controversy after his meltdown at the Award ceremony. The actor recently resigned from the Academy while stating that while change takes time, he is committed to doing the work to ensure that he never again allows violence to overtake reason. In a lengthy note that the actor recently posted on Instagram, Will Smith apologized to Chris Rock and admitted that what he did was wrong and that he was out of line.
Apart from two ongoing projects that have been put on halt, Emancipation is reportedly coming out on Apple+ at some point, while not much has been disclosed about the release date. Moreover, The Slave Escape movie is in post-production, and we wonder when it is going to be released in some form. With two back-to-back projects pulled out, fans have been wondering what is going to be the status of all the forthcoming projects starring Will Smith.
