With Palworld 1.0 now officially available, Pocketpair is already looking beyond the survival hit’s full release.
While many players expected the launch to mark the completion of the game’s journey, John “Bucky” Buckley, Pocketpair’s Head of Publishing & Communications, has revealed that the studio is actively planning the franchise’s future through multiple spin-off projects and other media.
Speaking in an interview with Game8, Buckley explained that the company’s ambitions now extend beyond the core survival experience, signaling that Palworld is evolving into a much larger entertainment franchise.
Pocketpair already has multiple Palworld spin-offs in the works
Discussing what comes after version 1.0, Buckley made it clear that Pocketpair has no intention of letting the Palworld universe stand still.
“We are also kind of thinking about the future. We’ve got some spin-offs we’re experimenting with, and hopefully we’ll be able to figure out how to keep expanding the Palworld universe.”
He later reinforced those plans while discussing the broader future of the IP, adding,
“The IP is gonna keep growing.”
Although Buckley stressed that nothing has been finalized, he confirmed that several projects are already being explored. Among them is Palfarm, a cozy spin-off inspired by players who wanted a more relaxing experience than the survival-focused main game.

He also mentioned the visual novel More Than Just Pals, which started as an April Fool’s joke before strong fan demand convinced the studio to turn it into a real project.
Buckley also noted that Palworld Mobile, the Palworld Official Card Game, and several unannounced projects are part of Pocketpair’s growing roadmap.
Player feedback continues to shape the franchise’s future
Buckley emphasized that the direction of future projects depends largely on the community. According to him, many of Pocketpair’s biggest ideas have originated from listening to players rather than following a fixed long-term plan.
Reflecting on the game’s evolution since its Early Access debut, he said,
“It’s crazy to think what the game was versus what the game is now, and it’s, I would say genuinely 90% because that’s what the players wanted.”
That philosophy has influenced not only future spin-offs but also Palworld’s post-launch support. During development, the team continually adjusted updates based on player feedback, from introducing more challenging endgame content to redesigning progression systems for version 1.0.
Buckley also reiterated that Palworld is not intended to operate as a traditional live-service title, explaining that the game remains complete even without constant content drops. Instead, Pocketpair sees future growth coming through carefully chosen expansions, new experiences, and separate projects rather than endless seasonal updates.
As the studio begins experimenting with multiple spin-offs, it appears Pocketpair is positioning Palworld as a long-term multimedia franchise rather than a single survival game. While the main title will continue receiving support, Buckley’s comments suggest the company’s biggest ambitions may lie in expanding the universe far beyond the island of Palpagos.
