In the previous chapter of Please Throw Me Away, Marquis Alia and Countess Motyer have a weird argument over an unexpected marriage proposal. Marquis Alia is offended that the Countess confidently told him about how she thinks that his daughter is problematic to refuse the proposal.
He refutes her argument by questioning Quaren’s character and background, which in turn offends Countess Motyer. She is mad because she officially adopted Quaren, and that should have been enough to clear any misunderstandings people have about his family background and lineage.
Apparently, she is frivolous and excessive, and Marquis argues back, saying that it is just old news and that Millaya has changed since then. That is also what the Countess was trying to say about Quaren since he is basically a war hero and a pretty meritorious person at that.
