Phantom Blade Zero has opened pre-orders for its upcoming PS5 release, but players looking for a physical copy have yet to see an official disc version. The situation was highlighted by X user Genki_JPN, who noted that there are currently “no signs of a physical disc release” and pointed to changes in Sony’s promotional material.
“No signs of a physical disc release for Phantom Blade Zero so far.
It is a self published game by S-GAME so maybe they haven’t found a partner to do the physical version and it could come later or they are not doing one at all.
Also the PS5 console exclusive end card has been changed from a disc PS5 in previous trailers to a Digital PS5 in the latest trailer,” Genki noted.
In particular, the latest promotional material uses an image of the PS5 Digital Edition rather than a PS5 model featuring a disc drive. This has led to speculation that Phantom Blade Zero could launch digitally on PS5, although there has been no official confirmation that a physical release has been cancelled or ruled out.
The distinction is important because the game’s PS5 pre-orders are currently available digitally, while S-GAME has not announced a physical PS5 edition for Western markets.

Phantom Blade Zero is S-GAME’s upcoming wuxia-inspired action RPG, following Soul, an assassin who survives a fatal injury and has only 66 days to uncover the conspiracy surrounding his situation. The game combines fast-paced martial arts combat with more than 30 main weapons and a dark cinematic presentation.
The game is scheduled to launch on October 29, 2026, with the PS5 version arriving first and a PC release planned separately. Sony has also announced a dedicated Phantom Blade Zero State of Play for August 17, promising an extended gameplay presentation.
For now, fans should treat the digital-only PS5 possibility as unconfirmed speculation. A physical edition could still be revealed before launch, including during the upcoming State of Play.
