Disney+’s epic Star Wars saga continues, and today, I bring you my Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 4 review. In the past episode, we saw how Master Kenobi was aghast of Darth Vader’s presence. He was badly injured, and Teva rescued him and took him to Jabiim. Meanwhile, the big cliffhanger was that Reva grabbed Leia and took her to the Fortress Inquisitorious.
Now, this episode, in my opinion, was way better. It had a greater action, better structure, nice dialogue, and drama. Moreover, it was a great way to squeeze a nice story into a 38-minute format. So, jump in, and let’s take a look at this week’s episode of the Obi-Wan Kenobi saga on Disney+.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 4 Review
We begin our episode with a very Vader and Reva-centric recap, only briefly alternated by just how shocked and PTSD’d Obi-Wan is by Darth Vader’s presence. Then, we see the cliffhanger from last week when Teva rescues Obi-Wan from that human barbecue Jedi broil that the Sith Lord concocted and how Reva snatched Leia to take her to the Fortress Inquisitorious.
The episode begins with Obi-Wan in a tank healing his wounds. He’s having flashbacks of Darth Vader again, and he breaks out of his healing process and begs Teva to take him out so he can start looking for Leia again. She acquiesces, albeit reluctantly. When the Jedi Master explains just how dangerous it is for Leia to be in the Empire’s hands, Teva offers to go with him and use her Empire credentials to sneak into the Fortress Inquisitorious. But others within the Rebel Alliance think it’s a suicide mission.
Sneaking Into The Fortress.
On their way to the fortress, Obi-Wan practices using the force again, the man is rusted, and his wounds haven’t healed, and Teva reminds him just how messed up he is. Meanwhile, in the dungeons of the fortress, a young Leia demands that she be liberated because she’s a princess and the daughter of a Senator, but Reva won’t listen to her and starts to interrogate her. Kudos to Moses Ingram for her performance here because she’s doing an amazing job at playing such an evil character!
Reva thinks that Leia is somehow a criminal rebel alliance mastermind. So she tries using a force mindreading technique to extract information out of her with no luck. I say with no chance because what can a 10-year-old know about some grandiose plans to overthrow the Empire. So, frustrated, Reva tries to play tricks with Leia’s mind, and she says to her that Obi-Wan is dead.
Some Action, Finally
Through some cloak and dagger techniques, and very well scripted, by the way, Kenobi and Teva sneak into the fortress. The Jedi Master finds out that the Fortress is a catacomb for former Jedis, he’s aghast at the youngling’s cadaver’s exposed as trophies. Meanwhile, Reva lost her patience and dragged Leia into a torture chamber, Obi-Wan hers her scream.
It’s so convenient that in a large fortress, Obi-Wan is in just the right segment to hear Leia scream for help. I call that a weak point in lazy scriptwriting, but I can’t demand too much from a group of scriptwriters who decided in the previous episode to make a barbecue out of the Jedi Master. A barbecue to have a Rebel rescue him with a droid in front of Darth Vader. But hell! You have to make it reasonable if it’s a half-an-hour show somehow, am I right?
The Escape
Obi-Wan gets Leia and goes with Teva into the cargo bay. They’re ambushed by the Inquisitor Reva, but in the nick of time, a couple of T-47’s come in and make a hell of a show to make Leia and Obi-Wan escape. The Inquisitor is furious, and so is Darth Vader, who chokes Reva, but she tells him that she placed a tracer in Leia’s Lola’s droid.
All in all, this episode was way better than the last one. The lazy scriptwriting is there, but you can’t ask too much from these guys as they have to make some sacrifices to make a short half-hour show. I hope you enjoyed my review and also checked out the rest of the recaps and the other coverage we prepared for Obi-Wan Kenobi here at Otakukart. Thanks for your attention.
