Nintendo’s discontinued mobile puzzle game Dr. Mario World is back in the news after a new or updated trademark filing was reportedly spotted. The discovery has sparked speculation that Nintendo could eventually bring the game back, although there is currently no confirmation of a revival.

The filing was first highlighted by social media user Mike Odyssey, who wrote,

“Nintendo just filed for a NEW/UPDATE Trademark for Dr. Mario World. A game released on mobile and discontinued by Nintendo.”

Dr. Mario World launched for iOS and Android in July 2019 before Nintendo discontinued the service globally on October 31, 2021. Nintendo’s official support page confirms that the game is no longer playable following the shutdown of Nintendo Support.

For now, the trademark renewal should not be treated as confirmation of a new release. Nintendo frequently maintains intellectual-property protections, meaning the filing could simply be a routine legal measure. However, with Dr. Mario World having been unavailable for nearly five years, the discovery has understandably renewed interest in the mobile puzzle game’s future.
