Nintendo has revealed a substantial lineup of games heading to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, with its latest Nintendo Direct combining new first-party adventures, major third-party releases, remasters, expansions, and updates. The presentation introduced two major new Nintendo projects in Metroid Ravenous and Kirby and the World Beyond, while also confirming several highly anticipated games for the upgraded console.
Among the biggest announcements were Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII remake project, and Monster Hunter Wilds, which is bringing Capcom’s hunting action to Nintendo Switch 2. Players will also receive enhanced editions of games such as Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and Pikmin 4.
The Direct also revealed new projects across established franchises, including Persona 6, Persona 4 Revival, Mega Man: Dual Override, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and three Resident Evil games. Several releases were given specific launch dates, making the presentation particularly significant for Nintendo Switch 2 owners planning their upcoming gaming schedules.
Metroid Ravenous and Kirby Lead Nintendo’s First-Party Lineup
Nintendo’s biggest new announcements included Metroid Ravenous, a new 2D action-adventure starring Samus Aran. The game is scheduled to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027, with both standard and special editions available for pre-order. The special edition includes the game, a steel case, and a Samus (Metroid Suit) amiibo, while separate Samus and Chozo Statue amiibo figures will also launch with the game.
Kirby and the World Beyond will take the pink hero into a new 3D adventure. Players will be able to freely explore an expansive world while creatively using Kirby’s Copy Abilities, with the game scheduled for spring 2027. Its release will also coincide with the Kirby series’ 35th anniversary.
Nintendo also announced Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition, which brings the action game to Nintendo Switch 2 with improved visuals and frame rate, more enemies on screen, all Expansion Pass content, and a new high-difficulty Calamity Mode. Existing Nintendo Switch players can transfer their save data and receive a discount on the digital upgrade.
Meanwhile, Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy adds new challenges and system-specific features. Players can issue voice commands to Oatchi using the console’s built-in microphone, while Dandori Academy introduces 72 stages released over time, online leaderboards, medals, and three difficulty levels. The edition launches on November 12.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation and Monster Hunter Wilds Confirmed
One of the Direct’s biggest third-party announcements was Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on April 8, 2027. The game serves as the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII remake project, following Cloud and his companions as they take to the skies aboard the Highwind while Sephiroth moves closer to achieving godhood.
Monster Hunter Wilds is also heading to Nintendo Switch 2, with its release scheduled for December 4. The version includes previously released Title Update content, including the Grand Hub, Mizutsune, Lagiacrus, and the Final Fantasy XIV Online collaboration. Players can hunt locally through wireless play or online with full cross-platform multiplayer support, while the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion is planned for 2027.
Lara Croft is returning in Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a ground-up reimagining of her original adventure. The game follows Lara as she searches for pieces of the Scion across Peru, Greece, and Egypt, with its Nintendo Switch 2 launch set for February 12, 2027. The Deluxe Edition adds a DLC Story Pack, exclusive outfits, and 48-hour early access.
The Direct additionally confirmed Persona 6 and Persona 4 Revival for Nintendo Switch 2. While Persona 6 introduces a completely new cast and standalone story, Persona 4 Revival revisits the Midnight Channel mystery. The latter launches May 20, 2027.
Resident Evil, The Witcher 3, and More Games Are Coming
Nintendo Switch 2 is also receiving three major survival horror releases in the form of Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition. All three digital versions launch October 16, with a limited-time early-adopter discount available through November 7, 2026.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 29, featuring visual, performance, and gameplay enhancements. The remaster adds gyro aiming, Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, and touchscreen support, while existing Nintendo Switch owners can upgrade for free. A new paid expansion called Songs of the Past is planned for 2027.
Other notable releases include Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, launching September 17; LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, arriving September 18; FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves on October 22; and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort on October 22. The latter expands beyond its sports activities with free exploration of Wuhu Island, an offline Island Crown mode, and Spocco Points used for character customization.
The presentation also featured Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, Danganronpa 2×2, Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United, Mega Man: Dual Override, Metal Slug Ultimate Collection, Onyx: The Dark Grip, Stage Fright, and Stellar Blade Complete Edition. These announcements cover genres ranging from puzzle adventures and RPGs to survival horror, cooperative games, action titles, and classic collections.
Nintendo also confirmed several additional projects in a closing montage. These included 007 First Light, The Ascent Ultimate Edition, The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother, Bluey’s Happy Snaps, The Crew Motorfest, Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon – Classic HD-, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World, Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream, Fading Echo, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon – Classic Edition, Far Cry 3 Classic Edition, Hela: of Mice & Magic, Hell Is Us, Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, House Flipper 2, It Takes Two, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition, Palia – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Sonic PICO PARK, and Stellar Blade Complete Edition.
The Direct further revealed updates for existing Switch 2 games. Mario Kart World is receiving a free update adding 10 classic Super Mario Kart courses as standalone VS races, two new Knockout Tour routes, and Spectator Mode. Star Fox will receive a September 29 update expanding Battle Mode to four players and adding three stages, while Star Fox Adventures joins the Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics library.
With new Nintendo franchises, major RPGs, remasters, horror games, multiplayer experiences, and updates arriving across the next several months, the September 2026 Nintendo Direct established a broad release schedule for both Nintendo Switch 2 and the existing Nintendo Switch platform.
