Joe was the stuntman for a famous actor named Tong. One day, he met Ming and they developed a deep relationship. Joe doesn’t realize that Ming always sees him as a replacement for Tong. When Joe found out the truth, he was devastated and took a job on a foreign film set. Unfortunately, he had an accident there and lost his life.
Joe wakes up to find himself in the body of a young man, also named Joe, who had an accident on the same day. With the help of others, he starts living a life similar to his old one, surrounded by the same people. He meets Ming again, and he wants Joe back in her life, which leaves him puzzled about her true intentions.
Ming remembers everything about the original Joe and is determined to figure out why Joe is alive again. He wants to bring him back into his life and give him the explanation he never got to share before. As Joe tries to understand his new life, he struggles with his feelings for Ming and the mystery of his unexpected return.
My Stand In Episode 4 Recap
In Episode 4 of My Stand-In, Joe starts avoiding Ming after Ming mistook him for Tong the night before. Later, Director Pao decides to replace Tong with Joe for the lead role in a new movie. Joe thinks it over and decides to take the role, wanting to prove he can do what Tong can.
Wut tries to convince him to reconsider, but Joe explains that Ming only dated him because he’s Tong’s stand-in, so he feels he needs to show he’s more than that.
Joe gets a call from Ming, who asks when he’ll come home, but Joe tells him to pack up and leave. Ming confronts Joe at the agency, and Joe brings up the night Ming hugged him, thinking he was Tong. Joe insists they end things and stay apart. When Ming tries to force Joe to come home, Sol steps in and they end up fighting.
Joe goes home to find Ming still there, begging for things to go back to how they were. Joe refuses, saying he doesn’t want to be a stand-in in any part of his life. Just then, Tong calls, ranting about being replaced and telling Ming to skip the press conference. Enraged, Ming knocks Joe out and locks him up so he can’t go to the press conference.
Director Pao is furious about Joe’s no-show at the press conference. Wut confronts Tong, thinking he had something to do with Joe’s disappearance. Joe manages to escape and explains to Wut what happened but finds out he’s been blacklisted.
Desperate, Joe considers joining an unsafe, unlicensed production. Ming looks for Joe but can’t find him. Joe ends up joining the international production and, during a dangerous stunt, he dies. The episode ends with Joe waking up in another person’s body and finding out Ming still lives in his old place.
