In the 17th season of Murdoch Crimes, which premiered on October 02, 2023, William Murdoch keeps showcasing his investigative skills and solving crimes in Toronto. The seventeenth season has intriguing investigations, intriguing storyline development, and growing character roles.
Not every mystery in Murdoch Mysteries Season 16 was answered. They intended to leave the audience eagerly awaiting the upcoming season. William was busy investigating the death by spearing of a professional athlete. Conversely, Arthur and Hart pursued the athlete’s father.
“The Long Goodbye Part 2” was the title of the last episode of Murdoch Mysteries Season 16. William could not accept Edward’s methods. Therefore, he left the Toronto Police Department. William is asked to assist in solving the mystery after Mathilda Crisp vanishes, but he declines.
William decides to pursue the matter after learning of the substantial donation the Crisp estate made to the Women’s Clinic. Upon visiting Mr Bently’s estate to express his gratitude, he discovered inventive and respectful remarks that proved how much more skilled William was as a physician and investigator.

Like the previous seasons, Murdoch Mysteries Season 17 takes place in the late 1890s and early 1900s. William uses forensic techniques like fingerprinting and ultraviolet lighting to find the killers at the beginning of the new century, in addition to his investigative skills.
Even after George was elevated to the position of inspector, his last name was still spelled incorrectly when Miss Hart put something in Watt’s water cup during the sixteenth season. Improved Murdochian devices, such as a bolometer and a weaponized capacitor, were introduced in the previous season.
The first episode of Season 17, which ran for forty-four minutes, was released this week. Consequently, Crabtree, Ogden, and William are kidnapped, and it is the inspector’s job to find them.
In the second episode, William and Ogden will argue over whether a murderer should go to jail for saving their daughter. In the interim, they will kidnap a socialite to take matters into their own hands.
The third episode features the theft of the Mona Lisa and the thief’s subsequent murder. William meets artist Emily Carr while looking for the culprit. Luckily, the SAG strike did not affect the seventeenth season of the show because it is a Canadian sitcom with a Canadian cast.
Finding Murdoch and Ogden after they’ve been abducted is Inspector Crabtree’s first assignment since he was recently hired. Torn between rescuing their daughter and avenging a killer, Murdoch and Ogden abduct the socialite to bring her to justice.
Murdoch’s investigation centers on artist Emily Carr following the death of the suspected Mona Lisa thief. Murdoch thinks there’s a link between the stabbing of a man at an oyster bar and a previous case involving harlots sold into marriage.
Ogden visits James Gillies, a psychopath, in a house of horrors after granting his demand for a mechanical soothsayer. Odgen, Watts, and Effie attend a healing retreat run by a charismatic guru where a participant mysteriously dies.
Murdoch investigates the intentional killing of a champion horse that is predicted to win a big horse race a few days before it. Effie, Louise, Hart, Ogden, and Effie come into a group of young explorers in the woods whose leader was murdered by a lunatic.
