The upcoming and highly anticipated Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown” has found its Joan Baez in Monica Barbaro, who you would know from Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick. Directed by James Mangold, with its script written by Jay Cocks and Mangold, A Complete Unknown is expected to start filming in August of 2023 with no release date yet.

The film by Searchlight Pictures, initially titled “Going Electric” but now known as “A Complete Unknown,” was announced in the summer of 2020 with the approval of Bob Dylan himself. In a recent interview with Collider, the director James Mangold, who previously directed “Girl, Interrupted” and “Walk the Line,” confirmed that Timothée Chalamet will definitely sing Bob Dylan’s classic songs in the movie.
Timothée is slated to play the musician during the phase of his life and musical journey when he abandoned his acoustic folk roots in favor of rock ‘n’ roll, creating a ruckus in the old days.
“It’s been a wonderful experience getting to dive into that world.”, Timothée told Variety in an interview. The actor has hired a vocal coach. Eric Vetro, who previously helped Austin Butler embody the role of Elvis. Three years after revealing that Chalamet will play Dylan, director James Mangold claimed A Complete Unknown is expected to start filming in August 2023 with no release date.
