Chris Black’s recently released monster series titled Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has become the new talk of the town. A hot topic, this show is being released as the sixth installment to the MonsterVerse franchise. Picking from where the 2014 Godzilla left off, this series has brought it all, from monsters to large creatures they call Titans.
The show has brought out the big guns with some of our favorite faces on the screen, including Anna Sawai in the role of Cate Randa, Ren Watabe in the role of Kentaro Randa, Kiersey Clemons in the role of May Olowe-Hewitt alongside Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, Kurt Russell, and many more in exciting roles.
The show is currently airing its first season and has been receiving much love from fans who seem to thoroughly love the way the story has been unfolding along with its complex characters. The show opens in 2015, a full year after the re-emergence of Godzilla, where we find Cate and Kentaro Randa, half-siblings, trying to get to the bottom of their father, Hiroshi’s mysterious disappearance.
The series has been undergoing the making process since early 2022, and fans have waited patiently to find out what direction the story will take after the release of Godzilla vs Kong. Critics of the show have expressed their appreciation for the fact that the producers put in the effort to add complex human stories and emotions to a plot that mainly revolves around monsters.
The show is bigger, better, and slightly more relatable to fans, especially at an emotional level. If you are curious about the upcoming episode of the show and want to know where you can watch it, then make sure you stay till the end.
Recap
The story of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters opens with our leading characters, the two half-siblings, Cate and Kentaro, looking into their father’s missing case, which somehow leads them to Monarch, a secret organization overlooking the giants called Titans roaming among humans.
The early episodes of the series took us twenty years back in time to introduce us to Bill Randa and Keiko Miura, two scientists heavily involved in monitoring the giant monsters and in the formation of early Monarch. We are also introduced to ex-army officer Lee Shaw, the sole connection between the two generations of the Randa family and an ally present during both periods.
In the last episodes, we found out that Lee Shaw had deliberately kept Cate, Kentaro, and May in the dark, not revealing the three about Hiroshi’s job in Alaska. The three had been taken in by Duvall and were finally released in this episode.
Cate, in San Fransico, tries to convince her mother, Caroline, to let her and the other two enter Hiroshi’s old office located in the ruins of the city. The three finally reach the office only to find nothing much of use, though Kentaro figures that Hiroshi must have moved to Africa in hopes of finding Titans.
With things getting out of hand, May secretly betrays the two and ends up calling Duvall to let her off the hook in exchange for her cooperation.
