Following the airing of the first season’s final episode on Monday, March 24, 2025, the production of Medaka Kuroiwa season 2 has been officially confirmed. The announcement came from the official X account for Ran Kuze’s original Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms manga series, which the anime adapts.
Alongside the announcement, a celebratory illustration was shared, presumably drawn by Kuze. While no further details about the sequel have been revealed yet, fans can expect more information to be released in the coming months.
Potential release timeline and returning staff

While no official release date has been announced, the immediate confirmation of a sequel strongly suggests that Medaka Kuroiwa season 2 could premiere in early 2026. This projection aligns with the typical production timeline for a 12-episode anime series, especially given how quickly the sequel was announced.
Given the swift turnaround, it’s likely that SynergySP, the studio behind the first season, will return to handle production. Most of the key staff members from the first season are also expected to return. Yoshiaki Okumura directed the first season at SynergySP, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu writing the series scripts and Mayumi Watanabe designing the characters.

Akiyuki Tateyama composed the music, while Noriyoshi Konuma served as sound director. Other key production staff included Aiko Yamagami as the color designer, Tetsuya Nishimura from Studio Elle as the compositing director of photography, and Masakazu Miyake as the art director.
A returning voice cast is also highly likely for characters who will appear in the sequel. The consistency of the production team and voice actors would help maintain the tone and quality established in the first season.
Manga’s ongoing success and English availability

Ran Kuze’s original Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine in May 2021 and remains ongoing. Kodansha has collected the manga into 18 volumes so far, with 15 volumes available in English from Kodansha USA. Of these, 12 are available in print, while volumes 13 to 15 are currently released as digital-only editions.
The manga’s growing popularity and the success of the first anime season have helped solidify Medaka Kuroiwa as a standout romantic comedy in recent years. The sequel’s announcement reflects the series’ rising momentum and the strong fan response to the first season.
