Matty (Kathy Bates) is getting closer to finding the truth in her investigation of Wellbrexa, but there are still many obstacles ahead. She recently discovered that Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) was the one who stole the missing documents. This betrayal hurts Matty deeply, more than anyone could have expected.
At the beginning of this episode, Matty is dealing with the pain of losing a real friendship. She struggles to keep her emotions in check as she faces Olympia at work. She knows she must act professionally and put on a “Game Face,” but that is much harder than she imagined.
At the same time, the Slamm’d case reaches an important stage that could impact Olympia’s future at the firm. Matty pushes through, facing several challenges along the way. However, these difficulties lead to important moments of understanding between Matty and her sister.
She and Edwin (Sam Anderson) also track down the Reddit user who originally pointed them toward Jacobson Moore. This discovery may help them expose the entire case.

The Slamm’d Case Takes a New Turn
Olympia surprises Matty by telling her that the judge has ruled in their favor. This means they can move forward with the Slamm’d lawsuit, even though the original plaintiff, Tucker, accepted a settlement. The case is still alive, but they need someone to replace Tucker. Even if this person is not an official plaintiff, they need someone who can convince the jury.
Olympia suggests using Violet Reed, a sorority girl who died after her drink was spiked with Slamm’d. Since Violet is no longer alive, she cannot testify or join the lawsuit. However, her mother can take the stand and share Violet’s story. This strategy is something Shae (Yael Grobglas) agrees with.
Violet’s mother testifies that Violet always took care of her health. She had a heart condition and was very careful about what she consumed. When Matty tries to submit Violet’s medical records as evidence, she realizes she left them at home. She asks Olympia for a copy, which makes Olympia doubt if Matty is fully prepared to continue the case.
Meanwhile, Billy (David Del Rio) finds the DJ from one of Slamm’d’s secret high school marketing parties. The DJ gives Billy and Sarah (Leah Lewis) a box of promotional items from the party, including early versions of the Slamm’d drink can.
The team examines the can and notices the warning label has changed over time. Shae suggests that there should be a study explaining why the wording was altered. However, there is no such study, which suggests that the drink company hid important documents.
The case moves closer to a breakthrough when Slamm’d offers Senior (Beau Bridges) a deal. This agreement would help the firm recover the money Olympia spent on the case. However, Senior is more focused on profit than on allowing Olympia to continue the trial. He pressures her to take the deal, warning that rejecting it could hurt her chances of becoming a partner.
Olympia refuses to back down. She decides to use all the time she has to strengthen the case. Billy finds a connection between the DJ’s payment and a marketing firm that works for Slamm’d. Olympia then follows the paper trail and tries to get a ruling in their favor.
Instead, the judge orders Slamm’d to turn over all the requested Vista Point documents. This causes chaos at Jacobson Moore’s office. Things get even worse when Matty argues that the missing documents were not just a mistake. Olympia, frustrated by Matty’s negativity, sends her home.

Despite the chaos, Shae goes through the large pile of documents and finds something critical. A focus group study shows that Slamm’d’s parent company surveyed 14-year-olds about the drink’s mascot. Olympia presents this information in court and argues convincingly. As a result, the drink company agrees to settle for $40 million.
Matty and Bitsy Have an Honest Conversation
At home, Bitsy (Julie Hagerty) tells Matty that Alfie (Aaron Harris) has a crush on a girl named Molly. Bitsy helps Alfie bake a cupcake to ask Molly to a school dance. She also gives him advice on what to wear for the event.
Matty feels happy to see Alfie excited about something at school. She is also relieved that he trusts Bitsy, just as Ellie had trusted her aunt in the past.
However, their peace does not last long. Bitsy goes to the courthouse when Matty forgets the medical records for the Slamm’d case. She arrives just in time to hear Matty talking about her cheating ex-husband in front of the jury.
Bitsy later tells Matty that she will stay until Alfie’s dance is over. After that, she plans to leave because she does not want to live in a house where her sister thinks she is a joke.
Kathy Bates delivers an emotional performance as Matty gets on her knees and asks Bitsy for forgiveness. Matty explains that she never meant to make Bitsy look foolish. Instead, she has been using Bitsy’s personality as inspiration because people find her sister more likable.
Bitsy forgives her, and Matty opens up about her sadness over losing Olympia as a friend. Bitsy comforts her and reassures her that she does not have to stop being a lawyer after the Wellbrexa case ends. Their conversation brings them closer together.
Matty also makes a big decision. She asks Bitsy to be Alfie’s guardian if anything ever happens to her and Edwin. Bitsy immediately hugs Matty and accepts the responsibility.
The Wellbrexa Investigation Moves Forward
Now that Matty and the Kingstons know who hid the Wellbrexa documents, they want to contact the Reddit user who first tipped them off. They cannot find out the person’s real name, but Edwin uses a phishing link to discover that the informant works at Jacobson Moore.
Matty and Edwin compare employee records to see who has been at the firm for the past 14 years. They make a shortlist and add Shae’s name because she worked as a consultant for Wellbrexa at the time. Since she had access to those documents, she could have inside information.
While working on the Slamm’d case, Matty wonders if Wellbrexa also has a missing study. She asks Edwin to go through the Wellbrexa files again. Eventually, Matty finds something critical.
The label on Wellbrexa was changed to warn against crushing the pill because doing so would cause it to be absorbed faster into the bloodstream, creating a stronger effect. However, there is no supporting study explaining this warning.
Matty realizes that the missing documents likely served as a guide on how to get a stronger high from the drug. She decides to reach out to the Reddit user again. She writes a heartfelt message, asking them to reveal their identity and meet her at the park at 6 PM.
Matty waits and watches the crowd. As people leave, she sees Mrs. Balvin (Patricia Belcher) sitting alone on a bench. Matty now knows that Mrs. Balvin was the one who confirmed that Jacobson Moore hid important documents. This discovery makes her a key witness in Matty’s plan to bring down the firm.
