The American docudrama series Moonshiners on the Discovery Channel dramatizes the lives of those who produced moonshine in the Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, and South Carolina Rocky Mountains. It was made by Magilla Entertainment. The show dramatizes their everyday lives, legal avoidance strategies, and attempts to produce alcohol.
Local government representatives assert that the project is not what it seems to be. Authorities in Virginia claim that the show’s characters aren’t making any illicit alcoholic beverages. Additionally, they said that they had asked for a disclaimer to clarify that the writers of the show had only dramatized the material.
According to Magilla Entertainment, the show’s producers, the video is an accurate documentary. During Marvin “Popcorn” Sutton’s visit to the show, there were clips from a documentary featuring Neil Hutcheson. The year Hutcheson shot his documentary, 2002, also happened to be its release year.
A Southeast Emmy Award was presented to The Last One, a condensed version of the series that broadcast on PBS and the Documentary Channel in 2008. Sutton was arrested by ATF investigators in 2007 for unlawful liquor distillation and felonious handgun carrying in Cocke County, Tennessee.
Recap
Mark, Digger, and Tim come up with a cunning plan to pit two licensed distillers against two outlaw shiners in a competition for the best corn liquor. Only one distiller from each side of the law will remain to face the ultimate confrontation after double elimination.
One of the most difficult distilling tasks has been reserved for last in an incredible tournament conclusion by Mark, Digger, and Tim. Grappa is the spirit that elevates the bar for a Master Distiller, and there’s only one outlaw and one legal distiller left in the fight for supremacy in the liquor industry.
Three US military veterans who served their country overseas compete to become the next Master Distiller, and Tim, Mark, and Digger assess the outcomes. Tickle takes his role as an honorary drill sergeant a little too seriously, which surprises no one.
To gain the title of Master Distiller and a piece in a thriving billion-dollar ready-to-drink cocktail sector, three legal and outlaw shiners compete to brew the greatest high-proof bottled cocktail from scratch ingredients.

As the championship is at stake, Team Petty and Team Gaughan resurrect their history of bootlegging to run championship liquor. However, as the stills competition heats up, Tim and Mark battle it out on the circuit, sending one shiner flying into the wall.
Three artisans-distillers compete in the first-ever combination competition, building functional stills out of raw sheet copper and mashing in a run of liquor made entirely from scratch. It all boils down to the last jar when there’s a chance of catastrophic failure.
Digger brings three distillers to a nearby farm where they choose components from bins of expiring produce for their mash. As Mark and Tim join the contestants at the judge’s table, they fire up their stills to produce premium spirits from culled crops.
