His stepmother said that she had hoped for him to reach out to her all those years. Cirus expressed that he had all these years, but the number wouldn’t dial every time he tried, which his mother found strange. She mused out loud that she hadn’t changed numbers all those years, so Cirus should be able to.
Cirus realized at that very moment what the cause of not being able to reach her was all these years. The note that she had left was crumpled, and the ink had become opaque at some place, which led him to misdial all these years. The realization of it got to him more than he would have liked, and he was unable to go to school the day later.
