Thirty-one-year-old Logan Lerman is an American actor known most for his impactful role in the hit fantasy-adventure film series, Percy Jackson. The California-born hails from a Jewish family, one successfully established in the medical field, leading Lerman to call himself ‘the black sheep’ of his family on different occasions.
The man is known to have started his career from the bottom, with appearances in commercials in the late 1990s. His first ever appearance in a film was in the 2000 released The Patriot, where he featured in a small role. He went on to get cast in movies like What Women Want and Riding in Cars with Boys, experiences that he barely remembers.
His role in The Painted House followed by his role in the thriller, The Butterfly Effect managed to get his serious attention, with critics calling him an actor worth looking out for. During his early years, Logan and his family thought of his acting career as a hobby that the former was invested in till before college.
Despite getting acknowledged by critics and established magazines and newspapers, including the likes of Rolling Stone, USA Today, Hollywood.com, and Los Angeles Times to name a few, Logan was not all that serious about the job.
But years of lurking around in the industry paid off when he was approached for the title role in the first Percy Jackson film, inspired by the book series of the same name, which Logan revealed to be unfamiliar with at the time. The movie, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, came out in 2010, and it had the viewers and fans of the book divided.
Before the release of the second installment, Logan did Perks of Being a Wallflower, which was a critical hit, and his acting was praised immensely. Then came, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, which turned out to be an absolute disaster.
The terrible grasp of the actual story and poor direction led to such a heavy response that the producers had to abandon the project completely, not releasing the third installment to the franchise. While Logan has continued to put out other work that the audience has loved, there was something that the actor recently did that brought back memories of his time in the Percy Jackson movies.
Lerman’s Sweet Note
Disney+ announced the release of their show Percy Jackson & the Olympians, based on the original books, and the trailer has left fans in much anticipation. But as it turns out it’s not just us who has been excitedly waiting for the show but also actor Logan Lerman, who has an obvious connection to the franchise, who has been following the stars of the show.
It has been over a decade since his Percy Jackson movies came out, and while they may not have been the grand phenomenon that the producers wanted them to be, the films are still an important part of Lerman”s career. The Hunters lead made sure that he got his sweet message across to the leading cast before the show came out.
While sitting for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the host Josh Horowitz grabbed the opportunity to let the audience know Lerman’s thoughts by reading aloud a note that the latter had written for the cast, “The show looks amazing. I can’t wait to see you all crush it in your roles. You’re making a lot of people happy bringing these characters to life.”
These words were directed to the entire cast of the show who were present for the podcast, including the show’s producers, Rick Riordan and Becky Riordan, and cast members Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri.
Lerman gave a special mention to Walker in his note, saying “I can’t imagine a better fit for Percy Jackson. You were so brilliant in The Adam Project.” He raved about how good the trailer of the show was looking and said, once again referring to Walker, “Hope you like eating blue food the next few years because I think you have a hit show on your hands.”
The message came as a pleasant surprise to the team, and it eventually led to Walker’s revelation that he had a fanboy moment as well when he had DM’d Lerman to tell him how much he enjoyed his work in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Fans loved this crossover moment between two actors who have played the same character and now wait for Disney+ to drop the first episode of the show, Percy Jackson & the Olympians on December 20th, 2023.
