Ever since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, hard-core Percy Jackson fans have helmed a Disney Plus launched Percy Jackson TV show. This started as the author of the book series, Rick Riordan, spoke on his blog regarding this hypothetical project. Nevertheless, fans took to arms under their Uncle Rick as they marched into Twitter, starting a hashtag #DisneyPlusAdaptPercyJackson and a petition to show interest among fans. And it seems like fans will finally get vindicated as announced by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson will be getting a Disney Plus series. According to Rick, viewers may have spent a couple of hours in front of the screen, but for him, his life’s work was passed through a meat grinder. And unlike the previous two not-so-great installments, this time, the author will be involved in every aspect of the show along with his wife, Becky Riordan.

Previously back in 2010, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lighting Thief released. This film stars Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, and Brandon T. Jackson, who grossed over $225M on a $95M budget. Meanwhile, its sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, released in 2013, had a loss grossing under $200M on a $90M budget. This loss led to the studio discontinuing the series; thus, only two of the five books being adapted into movies. This news couldn’t have hit Rick Riordan any faster as he had a dislike for the movie versions. He didn’t dislike the actors for how they performed but the scriptwriters themselves who made major changes to his original story. The most prominent change being Percy being played by an 18-year-old while originally he was 12 years old.
