Gordan Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares became a hot topic when it returned with the eighth season in 2023, nine years after the seventh. Several things changed when the restaurant rescue series was off-air for nine years, and cooking competitions overtook other shows on Fox.
Ramsay explained why 2023 was the right time to return. According to the statement given to Variety, the pandemic hit the restaurants, drinks, and food hospitality sectors over the last three years. The restaurant owners had to shut their businesses due to income throughout the world.
Thus, Gordan Ramsay is back with the high-anxiety series to help all restaurants in the United States rise against all odds. He points out various issues in the restaurants, such as incapable staff, lack of hygiene, and ineffective menu, and solves them only after being allowed by the restaurant owners.
The structures go through a notable make-over and turn profitable under Ramsay’s guidance. Meanwhile, Ramsay appeared on television through Hell’s Kitchen, Master Chef Jr., Gordan Ramsay: Unchartered, Master Chef, and Next Level Chef.
Kitchen Nightmares Preview
Kitchen Nightmares returned with the eighth season in the last week of September. Ramsay went to save the Bel Aire diner in Astoria, New York. A retired couple hands the business to its sons, Peter and Kal. However, the two brothers can hardly run it, making their parents anxious.
No problem hides from Ramsay’s eyes. He spots rotting food, a fridge with ignored stock and a forty-page-long menu. So, the first episode is about the restaurant chaos and a family war, which seems like nothing.
Ramsay dealt with egoistic and lazy staff, uncontrollable owners, unhygienic and tasteless food, ineffective menu and interior, and more in the last seven seasons. For the eighth season, the casting team sent a casting notice mentioning Ramsay’s name in the US, and several restaurants came forward.
The team asked some questions to the restaurant owners to know whether they were really in trouble because it was the first criterion for selecting a restaurant. Moreover, the casting team chose restaurants from New York and New Jersey because they wanted to film in one place, especially while making a comeback after nine years.
The casting team knew New Jersey and New York are on the East Coast, where people easily share their feelings. Ramsay wanted to know everything about the restaurants, including financials, the number of people visiting on a specific day at a particular time, and more.
So, the producer and selective people visited the restaurants before casting them. Ramsay loves challenges and knows that every restaurant and family is different. Mostly, it is the family that must get fixed before the restaurant.
The second episode was filmed in Bask 46 in Woodland Park, New Jersey. The chef addressed himself, ‘Culinary Gangster,’ distributed business cards, and made a jersey. The episode also showed the Da Mimmo restaurant in Dumont, New Jersey, owned by Melissa Gigante, the mother of the Gigante brothers.
The Gigante brothers are social media stars but do not know how to run their mother’s restaurant. They tried to fool Ramsay, who, in turn, confronted and dominated them.
