Kingdom Hearts 4 finally has a release window, and Square Enix is already addressing the biggest concern surrounding it: another delay. Following the game’s late-2027 announcement at D23, co-director Tai Yasue and series creator Tetsuya Nomura both assured fans that the planned launch remains on track.
During the D23 Kingdom Hearts panel, Yasue said development is progressing smoothly and gave an unusually strong commitment to the current schedule.
“I can confidently say and promise that it will launch in 2027,”
Yasue said, describing the development status as
“100 percent.”
Nomura also directly addressed fans who immediately assumed the late-2027 window could eventually move.
“I just wanted to set the record straight – that is not happening,”
the Kingdom Hearts creator said, according to Shacknews.
The reassurance comes alongside a major new look at the game. The latest Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer introduced a world inspired by Pixar’s Coco, while also showing returning characters including Donald Duck, Goofy and Mickey Mouse. The game will continue Sora’s story after Kingdom Hearts III, with the protagonist trapped in the mysterious world of Quadratum.
Kingdom Hearts 4 is scheduled to launch in late 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
