The developers behind Meccha Chameleon, one of 2026’s biggest indie success stories, have issued a public warning after counterfeit merchandise and fake social media accounts began appearing online.
The game’s creator, Lemorion, confirmed that the studio has not released any official merchandise and urged fans to be cautious when purchasing products or contacting accounts claiming to represent the game.
The warning comes as Meccha Chameleon continues its rapid rise in popularity, selling millions of copies and becoming one of Steam’s breakout hits of 2026.
Developers warn fans about fake products and accounts
In a statement shared on X, Lemorion clarified that any merchandise currently available online is unauthorized.
“Currently, official merchandise is not being sold either domestically or internationally. Any items currently being sold online are all unofficial products.”
The warning follows the appearance of items such as plush toys, T-shirts, and collectible figures across online marketplaces. The developer also cautioned fans against interacting with social media profiles using the game’s name.
“Additionally, on all social networking platforms, any accounts with ‘Meccha Chameleon’ in their name are all unofficial, so please do not send any sponsorships or similar offers.”
The announcement serves as a reminder for fans to rely only on official developer channels for merchandise and business inquiries.

A breakout indie success on Steam
Despite the issue, Meccha Chameleon continues to enjoy remarkable success. The game has become one of 2026’s biggest indie releases, reportedly selling faster than several high-profile titles, including Resident Evil Requiem and Crimson Desert, while building a strong community on Steam.
The title currently holds nearly 55,000 user reviews with a “Very Positive” rating on Steam. Its latest free content update also introduced a new Egypt-themed map, expanding the game’s growing lineup of post-launch locations.
Counterfeit merchandise has become an increasingly common challenge for successful games, with titles such as Schedule 1, Silent Hill f, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 also facing imitation products or copycat releases shortly after launch.
For now, the Meccha Chameleon team is asking fans to remain vigilant and avoid unofficial products until authentic merchandise is announced through its verified channels.
