Ruchi Narain is taking Hotstar’s thriller shows genre to another level through her latest show Karmma Calling. Besides its intriguing plot, the 7-episode series also has a star-studded cast of Raveena Tandon and Namrata Sheth.
Karmma Calling revolves around Karma Talwar, a girl who moves into one of the finest neighborhoods in Alibaug. While her wealth and charm may make Karma look like the perfect neighbor anyone could ever ask for, she has a dark reason for moving into the affluent neighborhood.
Raveena Tandon stars in the role of Indrani Kothari and Namrata Sheth plays Karma Talwar. The rest of the cast of Karma Calling consists of Varun Sood in the role of Ahaan, Vikramjeet Virk plays Sameer, Viraf Patel plays Zane Khan, and Rohit Roy stars as Satyajeet.
Karmma Calling is based on an American show called Revenge, and even though it shares the same storyline, the plot is often altered to suit Indian audiences. The first season of the Hotstar Special has managed to leave everyone on a suspenseful cliffhanger, with Karma almost failing to get her revenge.
What Happens In The End?
Karma might have planned everything about her revenge plan, but there were many things she didn’t consider while making it. Zane’s flower vase that he had gifted to Karma eventually ends up in Dolly’s house. The vase had a camera attached to it since Karma wouldn’t let Zane hire any bodyguard for her. This was Zane’s way of making sure that she was okay at all times.
The Award ceremony becomes a disaster for Kaushal and Indrani, as they have to give up on their bitter feelings against Dolly and let her come back to Alibaug.
Dolly later tries to get Karma to sell her house back to her, but Karma just brushes her off. This causes Dolly to become interested in Karma, and she decides to bring her down too.
Sameer is fired after Indrani and Kaushal believe he is the one causing the gap between them to become wider. Consumed by madness, Sameer takes matters into his own hands and goes to Dolly’s house to see if she’s the one behind the mess.
Once there, Sameer tries to search for Dolly’s belongings and confront her, but things become worse when Sameer accidentally pushes Dolly out of the balcony.
He calls Indrani and lets her know that Dolly tried to commit suicide. Zane later visits Dolly’s house, too, hoping to get a picture of Ambika. Zane sends Sameer’s recording to Kaushal and Indrani. Sameer later checks the CCTV films and finds out that Zane had visited Dolly’s place after him.
While all of this happens, Krish lets Ahaan know about his dad’s affair, and this causes Ahaan to lose all interest in being a part of this lifestyle. He decides to quit the Kothari life and starts working at Bombil Cafe.
The Kothari’s are interviewed for a magazine, and everyone finds out that Ahaan and Karma are a thing. Later that day, the Kothari host a dinner party for all of their close family members. Ahaan invites Karma, while Krish invites Yana.
The Dinner party doesn’t go well after Indrani talks about the time she saw Karma dancing with Dash’s brother, to which Dash also reveals that she had given him a gift earlier that day. This breaks Ahaan’s heart, and their relationship becomes strained.
Ahaan reveals the ring he had been waiting to give to Karma, but now that she isn’t genuine towards him, he just cancels their engagement
While all of this is happening, Sameer finds out that Karma’s real identity is Ambika and that she had sold her identity to someone else so that she could start a new life.
Ending Explained
Sameer finds the real Karma Talwar and lets her know about Ambika’s whereabouts. The woman just knocks him out and sets out on a journey to claim what is hers.
Karma’s plans might have been strong in the beginning, but now, she was at risk of losing everything she had accomplished so far.
Talwar’s revenge plan is going to be facing a lot of enemies in the new seasons. Ahaan and Indrani later watch over Karma’s house and talk about betrayal and love. Looks like Ahaan no longer wants to be in a relationship with Karma and would rather go back to his life as a Kothari.
There’s so much more that Karmma Calling has yet to explain, starting from Ambika’s childhood to the first scene that the show starts with.
The ending just shows Karma facing a huge loss and putting herself in danger because of the revenge. The Kotharis, Dolly, Krish, Sameer, and many others, the list of Karma’s enemies is endless, but that’s what makes this show so intriguing.
The new season of Karmma Calling will show us the next smart moves that Karma takes to avenge her father, Satyajit’s lonely and cold death. For now, the first season of Karmma Calling is available to watch on Disney+ Hotstar.
