Injustice 2 has officially surpassed 9 million copies sold worldwide, according to series co-creator Ed Boon.

The milestone provides a fresh look at the commercial success of NetherRealm Studios’ DC fighting game while fans continue waiting for news about a potential third installment.

Boon revealed the figure in response to a fan discussing sales data for superhero video games on BlueSky.

Injustice 2 Reaches a Major Sales Milestone

Responding to a question about the game’s commercial performance, Boon confirmed,

“Since we released Injustice 2, it has sold over 9 million copies worldwide.”

Released in 2017, Injustice 2 expanded on its predecessor with a larger roster of DC characters, a cinematic story campaign, and the Gear System, which allowed players to customize fighters with equipment that could affect their appearance and abilities.

The game’s latest sales figure also adds weight to continued speculation surrounding Injustice 3. Reports have previously claimed that NetherRealm could be working on another entry, although the studio has not officially announced Injustice 3.

The franchise’s commercial performance makes another sequel an appealing possibility, particularly with Injustice 2 continuing to attract attention years after launch. However, the 9-million sales milestone does not confirm that a third game is currently in development.

For now, fans have an impressive new figure to celebrate while waiting for NetherRealm to reveal what comes next for its DC fighting franchise.
