Loki could become one of the most important characters in Avengers: Doomsday, according to Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani. The actress recently shared her theory about Tom Hiddleston’s return and pointed to the major transformation Loki experienced at the end of Loki Season 2.
Vellani made the comments while appearing with YouTuber Frank Alvarez on the Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday Official Podcast, where the pair are revisiting the Marvel Cinematic Universe ahead of the upcoming movie. Disney+ describes the podcast as a rewatch of the Infinity Saga that follows characters and storylines that could have future connections to Doomsday.
Iman Vellani Thinks Loki Will Be Important
While discussing Loki’s history, Vellani offered her prediction about what could happen in Avengers: Doomsday.
“I strongly believe Loki is going to,” she said before pointing to his transformation into the God of Stories. She added that his journey has included being “killed and redeemed more times than I can count.”
Vellani also made it clear that her comments are only a theory, not information from Marvel Studios. She said she does not know what the filmmakers are planning but believes Loki’s story will be interesting to watch.
Loki’s God of Stories Transformation Changes Everything
Loki’s role in the MCU became much larger during his Disney+ series. By the end of Season 2, the character sacrifices his freedom to hold the branching timelines together and becomes the God of Stories, sitting at the end of time while protecting the multiverse.
That ending appeared to bring Loki’s personal story to a satisfying conclusion. However, Marvel has confirmed that Tom Hiddleston is returning as Loki for Avengers: Doomsday. His involvement immediately raised questions about how the character could leave his throne and participate in events occurring across the multiverse.
The first official look at Loki has also increased speculation about his importance to the story. The Direct previously noted that his position as the God of Stories could connect directly to the multiverse crisis expected to unfold in the next Avengers movie.
Loki Could Connect the MCU’s Multiverse Story
The timing of Loki’s return makes Vellani’s theory particularly interesting. Avengers: Doomsday is expected to bring together characters from different corners of the MCU, including the Fantastic Four and X-Men characters, while Doctor Doom serves as the central threat.
Because Loki’s story is directly connected to the structure of the MCU’s branching timelines, he could potentially provide an explanation for how the different realities interact.
Marvel has not confirmed that Loki will be the key to solving the multiverse crisis. His exact role remains unknown.
