TVING’s latest BL romance series, Unintentional Love Story, has managed to create a fan base despite just airing the show’s first few episodes. Revolving around Ji Won Young and Yoon Tae Joon, the love story you’ll be seeing on the show is different and has a much sweeter vibe to it as compared to the other enemies-to-lovers dramas that are being aired at present.
This series has been airing since March 17th, 2023, and has been directed by Jang Eui Soon, who’s widely known for her work like Triple, Coffee Prince, and Peach of Time. The drama is based on a web novel by PIBI that goes by the same name, which is also known as Biuidojeog Yeonaedam. PIBI’s webtoon ended up receiving a comic book award in the year 2021.
Unintentional Love story stars a member of the boy band B1A4, who goes by the name Gongchan. Along with Gongchan, Cha Seo-Won will be starring in the leading roles. Both of these South Korean actors have been a part of hit shows such as Second Husband, Miss Lee, To My Name, and many others. This is the first time Gongchan and Seo-won would be working together as costars.
The story of the show involves Ji Won Young being fired from his job at a reputed company only because his superior was corrupt and did shady stuff behind the scenes. Despite being innocent, Won-Young ends up jobless. Fortunately for him and his superior, he finds the boss’s favorite ceramic worker living a quiet life in a faraway village.
This comes as the light at the end of the tunnel for Won-young as he finally sees a way to get the boss to give back his prestigious job. He does his best to get closer to Yoon Tae Joon, but it’s only a matter of time until he finds out the real reason Won-young has been forcing himself into his life.

Unintentional Love Story: The Plot
Unintentional Love Story is a lighthearted tale of romance between two people that come from very different lives and have dissimilar personalities. Ji Won-young has a cheerful, positive attitude and will do anything to please his higher-ups, even if it means stalking someone for his good. Won-young’s persistent and doesn’t back down even if he is rejected multiple times.
As for Yoon Tae Joon, he’s more of a shy, quiet person who does his best to avoid all conversations unless necessary. He prefers hanging out by himself and working on his pottery and ceramic skills to going out to have fun. Tae Joon’s reclusive nature is what made him move to a peaceful and less populated village on the outskirts.
Ji Won Young works in one of the best conglomerates in the city, but his ideal job is taken away right in front of his eyes as his superior at work is found guilty of corruption. No one cares that Woo Young wasn’t at fault, and he has no choice but to leave the company. He somehow comes across Yoon Tae Joon and immediately recognizes him as the guy whose work used to be greatly appreciated by his boss.

When he informs his superior, they come up with a plan to get Tae Joon back in the city, which would hopefully help their boss’s anger subside at least a bit. Won young shifts to the village and started working at the place where Tae Joon is. By getting closer each day, Won young tries to extract as much information as he can about Tae Joon, but what he does not realize is that he is getting attached to him as well.
Although Tae Joon is very reluctant to talk to Won young or even let him work at the same place as him, he eventually decides to let him do what he wants due to his stubbornness. Both of them start to have feelings for each other, despite Won young strongly believing that he is straight. As they work towards their relationship, the actual reason Won Young started to be with Tae Joon lurks around the corner and could end up causing problems in their newfound love.
Overall, Unintentional Love Story is a slow-paced, sweet, and lighthearted romance show that can be funny at times. Viewers have complained about the main characters not having any kind of chemistry between them, but it’s too soon to judge as the show has yet to air its other half of the episodes. The actors also seem to be improving in their portrayal of romance as the episodes go on.
