The most awaited sequel of Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon, titled “Strong Girl Nams-soon,” is finally here this fall season with a bang and a completely different storyline than its prequel, with the only common thing between the two K-dramas being an exceptionally strong female lead possessing the power of superstrength that they use to help people around them.
The previous season ended with Bong-soon and Ahn Min-hyuk having their happily ever after, with twin Bong-soon giving birth to twin girls, and the new season had the female lead Nam-soon searching for her birth mother in Korea, thus making fans curious if the two drams had some connection to each other, but the sequel has an entirely different storyline with the lead couple from the prequel making a cameo appearance.
Directed by Kim Jeong-sik and Lee Kyung-sik, the action-crime series focuses on a young girl named Gang Nam-soon who disappeared in Mongolia as a child, and now, as an adult, she traveled to South Korea in search of her bio parents.
Once Nam-soon reaches Korea, she meets her grandmother and Hwang Geum-joo in the Gangnam district, but things take a comical turn after Nam-soon, her mom and grandmom get entangled in a drug dealing case investigated by Gang Hee-sik.
Each woman of Nam-soon’s family possesses extraordinary powers that they use for the benefit of others, and the chemistry between the female and male lead is electrifying but not as good as the one shared by the prequel’s lead.
The cameo of Bong-soon and Ahn Min-hyuk had people more excited than the entire drama, and well, we weren’t disappointed as Ahn Min-hyuk is still madly in love with his wife.
Produced by Lee Kyung-sik, the series stars Lee Yoo-mi playing Gang Nam-soon’s role, Bong-soon’s sixth cousin and female lead, KimJung-eun playing Hwang Geum-Joo, Nam-soon’s mother, Kim Hae-sook playing Gil Joong-ga playing Nam-soon’s grandmother and Ong Seong-wu playing Gang Hae-sik’s role, Gangnam Han River District’s lieutenant in the lead.
Released on October 7, 2023, by JTBC, the crime-comedy series has managed to capture several hearts since its premiere.
Strong Girl Nam-soon: Premise
The series is focused on Nam-soon, the sixth cousin of Bong-soon, who disappeared as a child and returned to South Korea in search of her birth mom.
Nam-soon possesses the power of super strength like Bong-soon, as every female in their family inherits it from their mother.
Once Nam-soon arrives in South Korea, she meets her grandmom and mother in Gangnam district, but things turn comical after all three generations of women get entangled in a drug-dealing case that Gang Hee-sik, a lieutenant at Gangnam district is handling.
The series starts with a wrestling scene in 2013, with a young Nam-soon having a match with a man more than twice her size that ends with her winning it.
The series moves forward, and Nam-soon’s dad still tries to find her as he was the one who lost her in Mongolia, while her mother also hires people to find her and decides to organize a competition to find her.
Meanwhile, in Mangolia, Nam-soon has flashbacks of the family she lost in Mangolia while her dad describes her personality and strength to the people he hired to find his daughter. Now, an adult Nam-soon is desperate to find her birth mother and discover the reason behind her powers; thus, she decides to visit Korea.
Once in Korea, Nam-soon starts her search for her birth mother, but in her journey, she experiences some roadblocks while Geum-ju suspects something is off about her newfound daughter.
Meanwhile, the incident that occurred at the Han River has pushed Nam-soon into the spotlight while Kang Hee-sik starts to spend more time binding with Nam-soon.
After spending time with Nam-soon, Kang Hee-sik connects the dots of her family tree, and a heartwarming reunion between Nam-soon and her family happens before things take a disastrous turn as the drug storyline picks up speed.
Nam-soon decides to help Hee-sik in his investigation of the drug case while continuing to grow closer to her new-found family.
