Based on the French television series Philharmonia, this South Korean series titled Maestro: Strings of Truth is about to drop its first episode, so here is all you need to know about the series before its release. The show, belonging to the mystery thriller genre, has been directed by director Kim Jung Kwon, also the director of the drama Love to Hate You.
The screenplay of the series is written by screenwriter Choi Yi Yoon, who has previously worked for Love Tractor, another South Korean drama series. The 2019 French series followed the story of one of the five percent female conductors for professional orchestras.
This ‘position’ in the music industry was known as one of the last glass ceilings in the music world, and the show itself is about the struggles that they faced. The Korean version of the show stars talented actress Lee Young Ae in the leading role of Cha Se Eum, a violinist turned world-famous conductor for The Hanging Philharmonic.
Actor Lee Moo Saeng appears in the show as her former love interest, Yoo Jung Jae; Hwang Bo Reum Byeol as Lee Ru Na, the youngest concertmaster, and Kim Young Jae as Se Eum’s husband, Kim Pil, who is revealed to be secretly jealous of his wife’s success.
There is a long list of amazing supporting cast who are a part of the show and have added to fans’ excitement for the series. The show began its production early this year and has since managed to create much buzz around its plot and characters.
The series Maestra: Strings of Truth follows the story of a female conductor who is forced to keep her identity a secret because of her gender but eventually ends up discovering strange, hard facts about her due to mysterious events surrounding her orchestra.
The Plot
In a world where professional orchestra conductors are still mostly men, Cha Se Eum, a former talented violinist, has decided to switch lanes, making a bold choice and becoming one of the few female conductors in the music industry.
While the choice may have been a difficult and bold one, Se Eum is passionate about her work and continues to flourish in the field. Finally, she gets to a position where she is known all over the world and has the success others could only wish for, and it is only Se Eum who knows of her deeper struggles.
You see, life is not as simple as we think it might be for her as she carries with her a heavy secret that follows her wherever she goes. Hidden from everybody else, this secret is big enough to flip the entire life she has so carefully built, uprooting it entirely.
Soon, some mysterious occurrences start taking place around her and her orchestra, some strange enough to push her to investigate them and dig deeper, only to circle back to her truth. Tune in to catch the upcoming episodes of the show to find out more about Se Eum’s struggles, growth, and, most importantly, her secret.
