The gangster saga of North Chennai is portrayed in graphic detail in the Tamil television series Label. Anuraja Kamaraja, the director, infuses style and substance into a production that tackles a crucial topic: one’s origins and the identity that stems from them.
The protagonist of the show is Prabhakaran, a lawyer who was falsely accused of murder when still a minor. Years later, he put in a lot of study to become a skilled lawyer, with a special emphasis on delivering justice to those who were being unfairly persecuted.
In the meantime, he was working to enhance public perception of the impoverished Vaali Nagar neighborhood in North Chennai, where young people were raised by two rival gangs in exchange for a tag known as the Label. This practice is still prevalent today.
The state of Vaali Nagar was deteriorating. Consider how “Rocket” lived his entire life in the “City of God.” For Prabhakaran, the same could be stated. Playing football with boys twice his size, he was a small boy. Though he was unaware of it on that day, he was about to witness a murder that would forever alter his life.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police was exercising in the field when he was assassinated by a few other boys in broad daylight. Many fled, but in the end, he and the murderous herd were apprehended.
The police were unable to determine whether or not young Prabhakaran, who had just scored a goal, was involved in the murder because he was too stunned to move. They gave a damn. They took all of them and made them go through tense legal proceedings. Until the identity of the pack’s leader was established, Prabhakaran remained in the juvenile facility.
That afternoon’s goalie for the game was a boy by the name of Nagendran. After his confidence was destroyed, Prabhakaran’s teacher at school helped him find his purpose in life and rekindled his enthusiasm for learning.
His teacher helped him realize that he had a fantastic chance to transform society despite his fears that his future was lost since he had been in jail. Prabhakaran decided to help the oppressed by becoming a lawyer.
