Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies will act as the subsidiary to the Grease musical released in 1978 by Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. So, it will be a musical comedy. Annabel Oakes is the creator and Justin Tranter is the composer of this television series.
The series will act as a prequel to the original one. The story revolves around the four girls struggling hard to make a place in Rydell High. Thus, they decide to break the rules and join a girl gang.
The first Grease film was released in 1958 and the second in 1961. However, the latest series shows 1954, to show the incidents before the first series got released. It is why the makers consider it a reboot rather than a prequel.
The main cast includes Marisa Davila, Tricia Fukuhara, Ari Notartomaso, Johnathan Nieves, Cheyenne Isabel, Jackie Hoffman, Shanel Bailey, and Madison Thompson. Alethea Jones is the producer and Erik Feig, Marty Bowen, and Annabel Oakes are the executive producers. The shooting first started in California after getting the tax credit. Later, the shooting got carried on in Vancouver.

Expectations From Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies
According to Marisa Davila, the series will contain new characters you did not meet before. It will also be a standalone series that will not even act as a sequel. Notartomaso says that the teenagers shown in this series will, on one hand, try to get independent and, on the other hand, adjust to the ongoing scenario.
Tricia Fukuhara feels that the series will encourage the audience to stand up for themselves instead of following society. So, it will be a combination of the demand for change and acceptance. Yes, it seems to get contradictory.
Music
Music for the series is provided by Zachary Dawes, Justin Tranter, and Nick Sena for all ten episodes. Justin Tranter feels pressurized to provide better music. However, he assures that pop-rock songs in this series will be the best.
Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies does not take the hit soundtracks from the previous ones. Instead, this series will have 30 original soundtracks, music, and songs that will express the emotions of the characters at that point.
The characters will have one emotion at the start of several songs and end up having other emotions at the end. Tranter’s job started in the pilot episode as he had to write a song for it to prove himself. It was, what we call, an ‘audition.’
The Characters
The four leading girls are Jane Facciano (played by Marisa Davila), Olivia Valdovinos (played by Cheyenne Isabel Wells), Nancy Nakagawa (played by Tricia Fukuhara), and Cynthia Zdunowski (played by Ari Notartomaso).
Olivia gets rejected by society for having a romantic relationship with Mr. Daniells. Her brother, Richie, is the leader of T-Birds. He ends up rejecting Cynthia for being a tomboy who does not behave like a typical girl.
Jane gets on the radar of the students as they start gossiping about her to hurt her identity as a ‘good girl.’ Nancy is shown busy with fashion instead of boys. So, she gets isolated by other students.
The series will have a fifth girl too. However, she will set an example of playing every move safely in life. Her name is Hazel (played by Shanel Bailey). She struggles to take place among her friends. Their characters do not depict the period, 1958, to the fullest because the characters are pretty diverse. So, the makers got inclined towards acceptance and diversification.
Connection To The Original Grease
everal Grease moments like dancing in the garage, pep rallies, gatherings, and sleepovers will get recreated, and there will be connections to some old characters. Viewers that have already watched the original Grease will find similar backgrounds in some scenes. They will also bring a few things that did not get touched in the original one.
