Desafio is a Reality Television Series based in Columbia that has till date released 19 Seasons with Desafio Season 19 releasing this month itself on 22nd March, 2023. The show has been a huge hit ever since its release and has been keeping its audience engaged with its wild challenges and activities.
Although there were different challenges when the show initially came out, the COVID-19 pandemic and its ramifications caused adjustments to the format of the show beginning in 2020, where Desafio ‘The Box’ had been introduced since 2019 and has since been in continuation.
As in the previous Seasons, as the cycles advance, the teams disintegrate and reconfigure until the final eight competitors (four men and four women) are combined and play a semi-final task, divided by gender. Both a male and a female participant are crowned winners at the conclusion of the show.
Desafio Season 19 Streaming Guide
Desafo is a Caracol TV-produced reality competition program from Colombia. In this Television series, contestants compete for cash and other rewards while being stranded on an island on the show. The contestants can vote other contestants off of the show using a progressive elimination system, which means that the voting off of one contestant keeps going on until only one person is left in the end, who then receives a monetary award.
Despite GenTV and Univision producing various versions of the program, Caracol TV has created the majority of them. The first two versions mentioned were created in Florida with an audience of Latin Americans in mind.
This Columbian Show is currently only available for the Columbian Residents and will unfortunately not be having subtitles for the global viewers. The show is yet to expand on other streaming platforms and made available.
‘The Box’ Gameplay
In The Box, three teams (Alpha, Beta, and Gamma) of eight (four men and four women) are led by a captain and are created from eleven original groups of four participants (two men and two women) after a first challenge.
An additional team (Omega) is later made up of contestants who were not initially selected by the respective team captains and who participate in a special challenge in order to have the opportunity to join this last team.
Five different challenges are played at five different arenas or boxes during each cycle: Blue for water-themed challenges, Red for contact-themed challenges, Yellow for ground-based, military-style challenges, White/Rainbow for air-themed challenges in which competitors may not touch the ground, and Black.
The Five Challenges in ‘The Box’
Sentencia y Hambre Challenge: Where the winning team gets to choose one or two contestants from any team (even their own) to take part in the cycle’s “Desafo a Muerte” and also gets to keep all the food they were given at the start of the cycle.
Sentencia y Servicios Challenge: The winning team in the “Sentence and Services Challenge” gets to pick one or two competitors to take part in the cycle’s “Desafo a Muerte” and also keeps all of their home’s public utilities operating normally.
Sentencia y Bienestar Challenge: The winning team also gets to choose the competitors for the “Desafo a Muerte” and keeps their entire house’s luxuries, including beds, furnishings, a pool, and a gym. The second-placed team is given the option of choose one of those amenities, but the third- and fourth-placed teams are denied from any luxuries.
Sentencia, Premio y Castigo Challenge: The winner team gets to choose the final competitors for the “Desafo a Muerte,” as well as the right to receive a prize and choose a different group to get a punishment in the Sentence, Prize and Punishment Challenge.
The participants who were given death sentences after the cycle’s first four challenges compete in the death challenge to stay alive. The Desafo a Muerte is the sole challenge that utilizes the Black “box,” with the other challenges rotating around the other four boxes each cycle.
Desafio Season 19 Episode Release Schedule
Desafio Season 19 will be releasing episodes every weekday from Monday through Friday with a total of 13 episodes scheduled to air. All episodes will be releasing at 4:00 pm (EST/EDT). The release schedule of all episodes of Desafio Season 19 is given below:
