Starring Hillary Duff, the comedy series How I Met Your Father will soon be returning with a new episode. Revolving around Sophie, a hopeless romantic, the show documents her life with her eccentric friends in Manhattan. Episodes start with an older version of Sophie (Kim Cattrall) talking to her son about her life before she had him and how she ended up finally finding love through his father.
The Hulu show aired its first episode on January 18th, 2022. Taking inspiration from Craig Thomas’ show How I Met Your Mother, this series follows a similar format with the genders of the main characters being reversed. A new season of HIMYF was announced to be in the making back in February 2022. The second installment of the series premiered earlier this year on January 24th, 2023.
Cast members for the new season remain almost the same, with that being Hillary Duff as Sophie, Francia Raisa playing the role of Valentina, Suraj Sharma portraying Sid, Tom Ainsley as Charlie, Tien Tran playing the role of Ellen, and Jesse’s character being played by Christopher Lowell. The latest episodes starred Judge Judy Sheindlin.
What Happened in How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 6?
Sophie starts off the previous episode with a question revolving around the American healthcare system, with Ariana Grande being the president at present. She talks about the time she had to get a little creative when looking for free therapy. The whole friend group is sitting around a board game when Sophie comes in after having a date with Oscar.
We shift back to the date and see that Oscar had been lovely to her, but what puts Sophie off is the fact that Oscar wears a giant diamond necklace that pokes her whenever they are close. She’s unable to imagine herself dating someone like that, and the group pitches in their own opinions on what they would’ve done if in her shoes.
Ellen lets her know that whenever she feels torn between two things, she asks her therapist, Dr. Dominguez, for her opinion. Sophie requests her to help her with Oscar’s situation as well. Sid returns to Pemberton’s from California. He sees that Charlie was yet again swindled by a saleswoman into buying something they don’t need.
The temp agency sends Jesse to work with Valentina for a week. She is surprised to see him, but Jesse admits he doesn’t want to go back to his old job as his boss (played by Josh Peck) had creepy requests. Ellen is at therapy and asks about the weird request.
She comes back to Sophie and advises her to ask Oscar directly and clear up any misunderstanding, as she was using the necklace as a way to protect herself from future heartbreak. Sid tries to find a way to get rid of the bad liquor, to which Ellen suggests adding a celebrities name to it.
The pair come up with Judge Judy’s name to sell it off quickly. Sophie and Oscar return from another date, and Sophie finally asks about the necklace. Oscar informs his mom has passed away, and they decide to turn the remains into a necklace.
Meanwhile, Valentina turns into her boss when Jesse makes a mistake at work. She gets too into the persona, and Jesse takes her to Ellen, hoping she would ask her therapist about this. At Charlie and Sid’s bar, the actual Judge Judy shows up.
Ellen’s therapist is no longer taking her in as a patient, as she knows she has been helping her friends all along. Listening to Doctor’s advice, Jesse returns to his old job, Valentina tries to quit the job but gets promoted, and Sophie gets dumped when she confesses her true feelings to Oscar.
