After saving the young Mesa family, the Raney’s head over to Texas to deal with another homestead that’s in desperate need of fixing. While the Raney’s have taken care of all kinds of homes and builds, this Texas one turns out to be the most unsuitable homestead they’ve ever come across in their entire careers.
Discovery’s Homestead Rescue is a reality series that features families that hope to turn away from civilization and set up a complete off-the-grid lifestyle away in the countryside or small towns.
Although deciding to live this way is easy, not many know the correct procedure or the resources that they need, and often end up going back to city life.
Marty Raney and his two children, Misty and Matt, are homestead experts who visit each of these families and help them get everything they need for an off-the-grid lifestyle. Nature is brutal but Marty and his kids know just the right way to combat wildlife, weather, and other issues.
Marty has so far done countless creative makeovers for families all over America and hopes to continue this legacy in the next few seasons. With Matt being a fisherman and Hunter and Misty being a farmer, Marty’s got every kind of help he needs to fix all kinds of homestead problems.
Recap
So far, the Raneys have traveled to places like Colorado, Tennessee, and many other places. Alaska might be a picturesque place to set up a homestead, but it has its cons which need to be addressed before moving there. The Raney’s helped a single mother prepare well for the unforgiving Alaskan winters.
Winters make homesteading and living off the grid harder, as the low temperature causes drinking water and food to freeze up much faster. Marty uses the increased daylight time to his advantage by securing enough resources for the mother and her children.
After Alaska’s frigid winters, the Raneys are in for another cold homestead rescue, but this time, they have to travel to a desert in Arizona.
There, they meet up with a young family that wants to embrace off-the-grid living and let go of city life but is not prepared enough for the upcoming winters.
Arizona’s extreme climate makes it hard to live in areas away from the city, but this couple hopes to find the perfect solution to make their dream possible, all with the help of Marty Raney and his children.
The Raneys arrive just in time before the next snowstorm is about to turn everything in its path into ice. Marty comes up with suitable solutions to help prevent the water from freezing out and keep the food reserves fresh. The family also has space issues for their livestock, which the Raneys decide to fix too.
Spoilers
Having become tired of the city life, a Californian family decides to shift to Texas, looking for the perfect ranch life. While they knew central Texas would be the perfect place to set up a homestead, the family happened to move into one of the most unfit homes in the area.
It’s now up to the Raneys to figure out what needs to be changed and execute a complete makeover for the family.
