The adventurous, exploration, challenges, rivalries, and unexpected events that Discovery Channel’s long-running gold prospecting series Gold Rush Season 14 gives is one hell of a ride. When that network created that show, they never would’ve expected to have such success and managed to spawn so many spinoffs.
With season 14, things are big; there’s bigger equipment, bigger challenges, bigger egos and dramas, and even bigger plots of land begging to be explored in search of precious metals and the wealth that comes from digging from the land.
This season sees the return of Rick Ness, of Parker making huge bets, and Tony Beets dealing with lots of equipment malfunctions. But that’s the gist of this show; we’re going to have to see what goes down, and we’ll have a lot of fun watching these dudes getting all the gold from below the ground.
Gold Rush Season 14 Episode 3 Recap
Parker Schnabel dug deep into his pockets and planned to rip ground twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, to get his entire four-acre cut open in just three days. It’s ambitious, it’s prone to machine failure and fatigue from his crew, but the rewards could be massive if he hits a mother lode.
As expected, machine failures and unexpected events took place. A truck had a bent skid plate, and the access road to the plot of land was flooded by water. Still, Parker won’t let that stuff get in the way of the money, so he and his crew handled all that very competently.
Do they find gold in this episode? Yes. But it was Chris Roots, who found some around in the fine tailings near the gold room and found a meager nine ounces. There was no drama, no injuries, no nothing.
The show shifts focus to Tony Beets, who moved all his heavy equipment to the Indian river claim, an inhospitable, windy, muddy place full of treacherous roads in which the equipment slid and made the team curse and swear more than a drunken sailor.
The show then shifts to Rick Ness, Zee heads home, leaving us to wonder who’s going to cook for Rick? Morgan gets a flat tire, and Rick goes to Parker Schnabel, whom he hasn’t seen in a long, long time, to beg him for help and get a new tire. Parker is a gentleman despite the problems in the past, offers him help, and tells Rick Ness that they’ll figure out the price somewhere in the future.
