Discovery Channel’s mining series, Gold Rush, will soon release a brand new episode this week, revolving around the crew’s continued hard work to collect enough gold this season. The stakes are too high this time, and all miners look forward to achieving their goals.
Gold Rush First began this year’s long journey in December 2010 and has since continued to release new seasons each year. The areas they mostly mine in are the Klondike region, The Yukon, and locations in Alaska, USA. Their techniques have remained the same, being that of placer mining. Old techniques coupled with newer machinery and equipment are what guarantee these miners enough gold to last until the next season.
Although the crew has mainly remained the same, new miners are seen on the show at times, with Clayton Brothers also becoming a full-time focus of the series. Rick Ness, on the other hand, has had very few appearances this season. Being the 13th installment, this season has been airing new episodes on Television since September 30th, 2022.
With the crew gearing up for another round of mining, the expectations were high this season, mostly because they had much better equipment and more men. Some of the miners have already reached their goals this season, while some are struggling to catch up and produce enough gold to last them until the next season.
Gold Rush Season 13 Episode 13: Recap
In the episode that was aired on December 30th, 2022, we see Parker leaving the Yukon for a while, and he entrusts his crewmate the job to mine enough area as he can. Schnabel will be returning in 5 days and demands him to collect enough gold that would be worth two weeks at least. Mitch starts his work and removes all of the topsoil, which exposes the gold-rich soil beneath it.
Chris Doumitt begins working on the old land, which Mitch had already plowed. Ken Tatlow accompanies him on this task. Despite almost being 84, Ken continues to work for the miners and admits that he loves the satisfaction of seeing what he collects throughout the day.
As it had rained the previous day, the land had become sloppy, causing the tractors to lose their grips. Mitch comes over and checks Ken’s tractor for damage. As he checks the parts, he realizes that one of the parts could snap right in half in the middle of nowhere, so he immediately stops the mining.
Fred Lewis has managed to collect a sufficient amount of gold, that is, around 37 ounces of gold this season so far. However, the number is nowhere close to his goal of 500 ounces. Fred’s team had managed to collect double the amount they had set as their goal, so the hopes are high for this season as well. Chris, Fred’s stepson, joins in and helps feed the plant.
Tony’s crew experiences a problem where both their dozers stop working in the Blue Cut. This endangers their hopes of meeting this season’s goals. To fix Parker’s dozers, Mechanic Jordan comes over with an old attachment that would at least last until the new one comes over. Seeing that they have to fix it at any cost, Tony’s crew members ask for help from the neighboring miners.
