The second season of Ghost Files brings back the same vibes and atmosphere that made the first season so popular and put the show on the radars of YouTube viewers and amateurs interested in paranormal events everywhere.
If you are unfamiliar with this web series, it is a humorous attempt at conducting ghost hunts in some of the strangest and most unusual locations you can find across the country.
The show, which is co-hosted by Ryan Bergara and his friend Shane Madej, frequently employs macabre themes and dark undertones, much like the infamous “Unsolved” Buzzfeed segment.
Ghost Files Season 2 Preview
In every episode of Ghost Files, Shane Madej and Ryan Bergara will travel to a location, and set up some cameras, motion sensors, and similar tech, to try and check out the presence of paranormal activity in the vicinity.
Take, for example, the debut episode of the season, in which the duo went to a jail in Missouri that apparently had ghosts of the executed inmates roaming around the pavilion used for death row. They go, they set up the cameras, and show us what they saw.
The show also incorporates elements that give it that funny and zany comedic tone as well as incorporating the collaboration from other content creators that talk about the place they’re going to visit; they share their experiences, contrast information, give us the background on the place, the alleged ghost, specter, zombie or ghoul that lives there and the show takes it from there to build up in tension with camera cuts, edition, and scares.
With more than four million views in its debut season, Ghost Files is a success for a video podcast of this genre, the kind of thing we’re accustomed to seeing from mainstream television platforms like Travel Channel, History, A&E, or TLC.
But with the liberty that streaming platforms like YouTube have, there’s more leeway and wiggle room to talk and make comments and do stuff that normal television wouldn’t let these guys do because of network censorship.
