The CBS show, Young Sheldon, was a great hit with its seven seasons, which ended earlier this year. Beyond the clever and sometimes annoying character of Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage), the show developed interesting storylines for Sheldon’s family members.
One notable character is Georgie (Montana Jordan), the oldest of the Cooper children. Georgie’s character was so successful that it led to a new show, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, focusing on his new marriage and his young family.
With Georgie and Mandy (Emily Osment) living in a different part of town, the new show is expected to feature appearances from the remaining Coopers in Medford, Texas. Missy (Raegan Revord) is scheduled to appear in the second episode, but a recent report from TV Insider reveals that Missy will have a larger role in the series.
The reason for this change is not fully clear, but it seems that Georgie’s story will involve keeping an eye on his sister while managing his own family. Missy was underused in Young Sheldon despite being a popular character. The new report does not specify how many episodes Missy will appear in.
A Beloved Family Returns
In addition to Missy’s expanded role, the premiere of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will bring back Zoe Perry and Annie Potts as Mary and Meemaw, Georgie’s mother and grandmother. Fans will return to Medford this fall to see how Georgie and Mandy’s life is progressing.
Mandy’s parents, Jim and Audrey McAllister, played by Rachel Bay Jones and Will Sasso, will also be featured. Dougie Baldwin will join as Connor McAllister, Mandy’s brother.
Missy’s larger role gives the show’s creators a chance to develop her character more than in Young Sheldon. Meemaw might also see more screen time due to her close relationship with Georgie and Mandy.
Meemaw was a key support for them during an unexpected pregnancy. So, Missy’s expanded role could also mean more of Meemaw in the new series.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage premieres on October 17 on CBS. Stay tuned to Otakukart for updates.
