What would your reaction be if you learned you weren’t an ordinary human being, and the university you are going to isn’t an ordinary one? How would you feel if you got a chance to explore your powers with a group of people possessing similar powers in a controlled environment?
The superhero series directed by Nelson Cragg and Steve Boyum, titled “Gen V,” was developed by Craig Rosenberg with a similar concept for viewers to enjoy. The Boys: Gen V is a recently released young superhero series based on a comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson titled The Boys “We Gotta Go Now”.
The series was released on September 29, 2023, and stars Jaz Sinclair playing the role of Marie Moreau, a blood blender, and Chance Perdomo playing Andre Anderson’s character, Luke’s best friend, who possesses magnetic manipulation.
Lizze Broadway plays Emma’s role, Supe has the power to shrink the size, Maddie Phillips plays Cate’s role, Luke’s girlfriend and a mind empath, London Thor plays Jordan Li, a gender shifter, Asa Germann plays Sm’s role, a young man possessing the power of super-strength, and Shelley Conn playing Indira’s role, Godolkin University’s dean in the lead.
The series focuses on young adult superheroes being in battle royal challenges at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, run by Vought International and founded by the nefarious Patrick Godolkin. Godolkin University is the only college in America that is exclusively made for superheroes possessing unique powers that set them apart from the rest of the world.
The series focuses on the struggles, challenges, and rivalries that arise between the hormonal super as they vie for the top position in the University’s hierarchy. The series explores the societal and personal dynamics amongst the supers and the ordinarys’ as this is what we call regular humans nowadays.
So, if you are a potential super, you will surely desire to become a Godolkin University graduate. The hormonal level is high among the super jacked up on Compound V, a drug used to induce power.
The students train at Godolkin University to become the next superhero ready to save the world. The question remains: what if one of the Supees goes bad or turns into a villain instead of a hero?
Gen V – Premise
The recently released young-adult superhero series kicked off with A-Train, a black man joining the Seven, an illustrious group and becoming the first one to do so while Marie, another black girl, has her first period and her blood-bending powers manifest, which leads her to accidentally killing her parents and straining her relationship with Annabeth, her younger sister.
Now, 8 years after the day Marie accidentally killed her parents, she gets accepted into the Godolkin Univeristy, an education facility responsible for training young adult rupees to become a future superheroes.
Marie befriends Emma Meyer, her roommate, on the first day at her university and becomes acquainted with Andre Luke, Jordan, and Cate.
Meanwhile, at a party, Marie saves a woman from bleeding out to death after Andre’s ability accidentally injures her. Professor Richard expells Marie for her stunt at the party even though she gains immense popularity on social media to protect upperclassmen’s reputation.
Marie returns to Richard’s office to find Luke has ended his life, and he attempts to kill Marie too but is stopped just in time by Andre and Jordan.
Luke ends his life by blowing himself up after cooling down and realizing what he has done. Marie becomes the first freshman in the Top 10 rankings at Godolkin University in the aftermath of Luke and the professor being killed.
The circumstances surrounding Luke and Richard’s death are covered by Vought International, while Marie gets the entire credit for stopping Luke’s rampage.
After getting acquainted with Indira, the University’s dean, Mari is offered counsel. Meanwhile, Emma befriends Justine and discloses her powers to Justine in confidence, who later reveals it in a YouTube video, leading to a confrontation between her and Emma.
Andre and Cate begin to investigate the death of their friend Luke and find a video recording of him revealing his brother being alive and kept captive by Shetty in The Woods, a hidden facility.
Andre breaks off from Marie before an interview to find intel in Brin’s office. Meanwhile, Marie gets informed by Courtenay about her younger sister wanting nothing to do with her.
Andre and Cate have sex after Cate tells Andre not to risk his life to find the truth behind Luke’s death. Meanwhile, Marie finds Emma shrinking in her room after she returns from meeting Shetty.
The following day, Marie gets invited by Shetty to a fundraiser gala in honor of Brink. Meanwhile, Emma’s mother tries to convince her to be a part of a reality series, but she refuses to be a part of it.
The latest episode ends with Andre convincing Emma to infiltrate the woods and locate Sam. The series’ previous episode ends with Sam getting incapacitated by a guard while Emma makes a run for her life.
Gen V – Filming Locations
The filming began in the May of 2022, with the University Of Toronto being the prime location.
1. Toronto, Ontario
Known for the Hockey Hall of Fame, Casa Loma, and Fort York National Historic Site, the beautiful capital province in Canada, Toronto, was used by the production crew of Gen V for filming.
The University of Toronto Mississauga was used to film the Godolkin University. The university campus was dressed with banners and new signs to make it appear like Godolkin University.
The production crew used the city of Brampton and Victoria University to film some of the campus exterior scenes. Some filming locations include regional municipalities around Durham, York, Halton, and Peel.
The crew used Sobey’s Stadium in Toronto to film the part with Marie and Emma going to watch Golden Boy’s workout in the very first episode. The crew used the main library of Victoria University to film the part with the Godolkin Student Union part.
