So we are about to see more from Élodie Yung as Cambodian-Filipino medical doctor Thony De La Rosa. The Cleaning Lady receives a Season 2 renewal from Fox. The first season wrapped up on March 14, 2022. That too with an ending that pretty much hinted about another season.
On top of all that, viewing numbers did well for The Cleaning Lady as it was quite close to some popular shows like 9-1-1. The show became Fox’s highest-rated drama premiere in two years and Hulu’s most-streamed Fox debut ever.
It is based on the Argentine series La Chica Que Limpia, which ran for only one season. The Cleaning Lady managed to connect with the viewers. It went on to shed light on important and timely topics such as immigration and healthcare.
The President of Fox, Michael Thorn, talked about the renewal of The Cleaning Lady for a second consecutive season. He suggested that the emotionally driven story of Thony navigating her life with the underworld in order to save her son managed to captivate audiences across all platforms.
Thorn continued to say that the show shedding light on important social issues is something that has been one of Fox’s long-time calling cards. He further applauded the performance of Élodie Yung in the lead role of Thony De La Rosa. Along with the entire supporting cast.
Thorn also thanked the developer and executive producer Miranda Kwok along with Melissa Carter. Now the audience can look forward to what’s next for Thony and her son Luca in the upcoming The Cleaning Lady Season 2.
About The Cleaning Lady
The Cleaning Lady tells the story of a former Cambodian-Filipino medical doctor navigating life in the United States after her visa expired. As an illegal immigrant now, Thony couldn’t pursue medical.
So the situation forces her to work as a Cleaning Lady to save her five-year-old son, who suffers from a rare disease. Things take a turn when she witnesses a murder. This sees her getting involved in underworld activities as long as she can aid her son.
The Cleaning Lady ended on a cliffhanger when Thony found her son missing. The coming Season 2 of The Cleaning Lady will see Thony’s struggle to get her son back after everything she has been through.
